The Bruins don't want to be associated with Barzal imo. Imagine after acquisition - if he is injury prone the rest of the way?

Why is there a bad association with Boston and Barzal? He would be a 1C PPG playing with Pasta and Lindholm/Zacha at 28 locked up at a good number for 6 more years.

Agreed on this front. I think Barzal for 7OA is a good deal for both teams - but this is assuming Hagens is there - which I'm not sure of. Rumor is Flyers like Jake O'Brien so a small trade-down is also possible for a 3rd or something, if Islanders really want to go for 2 top 10 picks. I'd like the Flyers to do something similiar also - Tippett + both 1st for a pick in the top 10 to grab another C prospect like McQueen would also be great, but for whatever reason they seem to like him too much.

I think it'll depend if teams view him as a winger or center. I expect wingers to go later than many are acknowledging. Teams historically just strongly prefer centers and dmen in the top 10.

It's possible. Rumours are Utah likes Brady Martin and Chicago will choose one of Desnoyers or Frondell, Then Nashville will do the same with whichever Chicago doesn't take. Philly might take Hagens at 7 though

Pageau is definitely more of the type of center the Bruins org likes. Sturm has stressed... that the Bruins defensive system needs to return.

I know teams don't think like this but the good thing about a Barzal for Hagan swap would be Islanders probably would do much worse next season, finish lower and get a nice pick to add to their collection of higher end ELCs which helps them hopefully in the long run. It also allows for the ability to trade Pageau and Lee for some nice returns(although I am guessing we resign Lee)

Barzal would be the obvious player coming back.

Something like 7oa + Mittlestadt or Zacha for Barzal. The Bruins don't really need one of those two guys as one will be 3C, and a top line of Pasta, Lindholm and Barzal would be good.

Pasta and Lindholm put up some serious points in the final 10-15 games, so may have clicked together. Edit - just looking and Geekie was actually flying too on that line, so maybe they start with those 3 next season, so Barzal wouldn't necessarily be the right guy.

The Isles want to get Hagens without using the 1st overall pick.

Enter Colorado. Necas wants to be a C, get paid, and he's buddies with Pasta. Colorado wants cost certainty but retain high end talent.

Then flip the 25th + Pageau + Holmstrom for the 7th + Poitras + salary filler.

I would want Eiserman.... but I could also see the Islanders plan to play Hagens with Eiserman someday.

With the 3rd Islanders take Hagens. 7th pick take Mrtka

If at 7... Martin doesn't drop. And Hagens is still available. I think a trade between these teams could happen.

Maybe after acquiring Pageau, the Bruins have something else lined up - like trading Zacha for a late teen 1st.

Why would you trade Zacha for a late pick, he and is contract are more valuable than a late 1st round pick.
