Would a prospect like Roobroeck make it work? Solid C prospect with middle 6 upside?I thought you meant JT. lol K Miller is a little more tempting; still say no but it's very close.

Nah,we have Minten et al. already. We will move a center sometime between now and camp. My bet is Zacha. Miller and an asset would more than do it for value, but I think Sweeney is looking for more grit. Someone like Gavrikov, who the Rangers allegedly want also.Would a prospect like Roobroeck make it work? Solid C prospect with middle 6 upside?
Thats fair, grit definitely isn’t one of Miller’s strong pointsNah,we have Minten et al. already. We will move a center sometime between now and camp. My bet is Zacha. There are about 5 upper tier UFA forwards and probably 15+ teams interested in signing them. The Isles aren't guaranteed to get Boeser, or Ehlers, or Bennett, or Marner. The reason why you never see top 10 picks at the draft traded for high cap players is because a few days later you can get a ufa for free. So the islanders trade bar zap for 7th OA and sign boeser July 1. Now the trade is barzal (whose best year was his rookie year and injured half the year) for a 7 OA and boeser. This would be a no brainer for NYI.
Sweeney is an idiot and he is talking about being aggressive......My gut says he trades the pick for a top six center or top four defenseman. If true, Sweeney's an idiot.... they need to rebuild and get one of the centres (Hagens, Frondell, Desnoyers).
Even trading it for a decent 1C wont get them in the playoffs, and even if they did, theyd be far from contenders.
not smart.... patching doesnt work. Ask the Habs from circa 1995-2020 amongst many other teams.Sweeney is an idiot and he is talking about being aggressive......My gut says he trades the pick for a top six center or top four defenseman.
Look at Sweeney's record. He is the undisputed king of patching roster holes to very little effect.not smart.... patching doesnt work. Ask the Habs from circa 1995-2020 amongst many other teams.
Rebuilding sucks, but its almost a necessity now unless youre trying to win like STL did..... VGK were just fortunate with the expansion draft followed by Stone and Pietrangelo choosing a tax free state.
That’s why teams TRY for the ufa first thentry the trade route AFTERThere are about 5 upper tier UFA forwards and probably 15+ teams interested in signing them. The Isles aren't guaranteed to get Boeser, or Ehlers, or Bennett, or Marner.
true, but Ill be the first to admit, the Bruins have been one of the most consistently good teams this century. One Cup and 2 Cup finals in 14 years is something most teams havent come close to. The ownership will not tolerate that. They are not cup-driven, but playoff gate-driven.true, but Ill be the first to admit, the Bruins have been one of the most consistently good teams this century. But you cant stay like that forever, and last season was a clear sign. I mean, drafting one of the big centres next week would be the best thing for the franchise by far. Should also be looking at having a shot at McKenna next summer and Dupont 2027.
Except after signing a team loses leverage if they have to for cap compliance. That’s why teams TRY for the ufa first thentry the trade route AFTER
The Bruins have no patience. So either they have a few top 2025 prospects identified that is able to play right away. My guess is - Misa, Frondell, Martin. There’s no reason for Sweeney to galaxy-brain this. Make the pick, grab a really valuable center prospect and then see how the off-season and season unfolds.
I’m in a very small and shrinking minority - but I think with better health and with Swayman rebounding from really the first truly poor season of his entire hockey playing career and perhaps an initial “new coach” boost, that Boston could be pretty competitive again next season.
If they are and they want to turn around and trade assets to ramp up a retool, that path would be available. But if they do fall flat again, you’ve still got this shiny new blue chip prospect.
To make a move now just seems hasty and reduces your flexibility in the future.
Wtf are you talking about lol?The Bruins have no patience. So either they have a few top 2025 prospects identified that is able to play right away. My guess is - Misa, Frondell, Martin.
Or trade for an impactful vet plus a later 1st pick or early 2nd pick - to add to the weak prospect depth.
