Boston Receives: Sam Morin

Flyers Recieve: Ryan Spooner

Really think flyers need a 3C, im not huge on DD or many of the other options ive heard, saw spooner on block think it could be a perfect fit especially with Ghost,Prov,Sanheim and MDZ likely holding the fort down in forseeable future and Bostons need for Defensemen

Flyers need a more defensively responsible 3C. We need a guy who will take most pressure off the top two lines and also have a little scoring punch. Martin Hanzal is a guy I like the Flyers to target.

Probably wouldn't cost us as much either.

In one sense, we definitely, desperately need a 3C ... if we are trying to make a playoff run this year. But the reality is that we are a couple years away, and we have a 3C prospect in-house (German Rubtsov) along with another possible one (Mikhail Vorobyov, which is spelled wrong). It's not a ridiculous offer at all and it fits a current need, but I don't know if Hexy wants to make a move like this now rather than kind of tread water for another season plus.

Agreed.

If there's a D to target it should be Sanheim. Even then, I'd want a D with more experience, as we have our own LD prospects (may not be as good as Sanheim).

Sanheim won't be moving for Ryan Spooner

Ewwww no. Gudas is the wrong kind of D we need.

He'd be an upgrade on both Mcquaid and Miller for sure and I'm not sure Spooner alone will get us the kind of D we need. Gudas, for as dirty as he is, is a pretty good top 4 dman and i think he could be a good partner for Krug.

But, the more I think of it the more I would be hesitant. I don't really like the guy but I think adding a RHD who can play take some of the defensive pressure off of Carlo and Cmiller would be huge boost to the club but the Bruins would probably need to get rid of one of Mcquaid or Kmiller first. If we could get a better defencemen for Spooner+ i would definitely pull the trigger.

Is that what they really need though? An upgrade in the 5-6-7 D position? They seem to be all set with bottom pairing guys to me, they need legit top 4 guys.

Yeah but there's absolutely zero reason for PHI to deal Sanheim, so the price would be really high and would have nothing to do with Spooner.

I don't think he is an upgrade on MQuaid or Miller. He's the same player. He is not a top 4 guy. He's a guy that I know some BOS fans would love, but his style is not a match for the current NHL. I don't need to see another gritty, tough, stay at home guy who stays at home because he isn't mobile or skilled enough to leave the home.

No place for him or his contract on this team.

I know that is his reputation, but aside from a dip in form last year he is playing really well - his skating is fine and he has a booming shot. I'm not saying he is a top pairing D man or the second coming of Bobby Orr or something, but he's a talented player.

That's not what Gudas is, though.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Gudas is top 10 in Corsi Rel in the entire league since joining the Flyers. He's very mobile and doesn't stay at home.

But it doesn't matter because Gudas isn't available.

I see people haven't realized Radko Gudas is actually quite good.

Also, Spooner doesn't get you Morin or Sanheim or Gudas. Not close.

Someone link the play Gudas made last night, unbelievable.. Will change your mind on him real quick.

We knew Morin was a project when we drafted him, and now he is probably next up to crack our line-up. I believe he will make a name for himself. Wouldn't move Morin, Sanheim, or Myers.

Potential Top 2 d-men > 3C

It's always obvious when people are talking about a player that they don't watch. Do you not realize you're embarrassing yourself? At least have the self-awareness to recognize when you're uninformed on a topic and then just don't talk about it until you educate yourself. You can't just use an outdated reputation and pretend you know a player when talking to people who watch him every game. It's really not a tricky concept and yet I constantly see people struggling with it.
