So listen, ok? I'm starting to get REALLY creative as we get closer to the draft and July 1st. I watch and listen to tons of videos, I feel like my brain wants to go to unexplored places... So maybe this is farfetched... I'm not sure that as a Habs fan I really want this... I'm ready for this thread to be locked. But this is genuinely not trolling, I swear.

You're ready? Here goes :

MON receives :

Elias Lindholm
BOS 1st pick in 2025 (7th OVR)

BOS receives :

MON 1st pick in 2025 (17th OVR)

My reasoning is Habs get a player that has been a legit top-6 center two years from now but who has been on a first year of a terrible contract for his recent level of play. You take a chance he bounces back in MON with Demidov, if he doesn't, you're kind of stuck with his contract, so it sucks, but the cap starts getting up. By the end of the contract, maybe he is the 3C behind Michael Hage or a Jake O'Brien/Brady Martin picked with that 7th OVR pick (or maybe they go Porter Martone, who would tear it alongside Demidov).

BOS, in return, get the Lindholm's contract removed and can go on with spending money on guys who would work better alongside Pastrnak, McAvoy and Swayman.

:p now let's see if I get rolled over with this take!

No one is giving up a top 10 pick to move down 10 spot in this draft. Boston is retooling, they don't need to do anything like this. They can just buy him out if they wanted

Buying out a contract with 6 years left at this amount won't be without serious impact on the cap, tho.

In general, quite a few things need to happen before a team pays big assets to get rid of a player and his contract - I don’t think any of these have happened and I see little signs that they have even been contemplated by the Bruins regarding Lindholm. And with the rising cap, the existing „bad“ contracts will become more reasonable, as it gets harder to use the money that could theoretically be freed up more efficiently.

You’d think the Bruins already didn’t have 26m in cap space or something?

Pass

Lindholm played hurt most of the season. He played with Marchand who was also recovering from injury and a mix of underproducing RWs on a really struggling team.

He was healthy and finished the last month of the season playing with Pasta and Geekie and found his game.

17GP, 6G, 15 Pts, +3

Then he went to the Worlds and led the tournament with 8 Goals.

If anything we need Lindholm and certainly aren’t adding to move him.

Understood everyone, this one won't have a Bible type impact in the trade proposals history of litterature! Just wanted to start a discussion, we can all move on from here! See you around! :)

BOS wouldn't trade Lindholm alone for the 17th pick. In two years his contract will be excellent with the salary cap increase.

Get your hand over your chest before that big heart of yours falls out.

While my confidence in the Bruins drafting is pretty low, they still can't afford to trade another high first rounder. They need to acquire picks, not trade them.

I will say this, having I don't think ever said this before in the 20+ years I've been here: that's absolutely the worst proposal I've ever seen here.

If the Kraken didn't need to attach anything to Burakovsky there is zero chance Boston would have to attach something to E Lindholm if they even did want to move him in the first place
