With the contract he has and the fact that better defenceman are signing for a similar amount (Quincey/Seidenberg) no one is taking him unless we attach an actual asset

I think I'm the only Sens fan that actually likes him (as a 6/7th). I would like to see him and Claesson rotated, beyond Claesson, there really isn't a better option.

Meh, I wouldn't have minded Borowiecki as the Ducks #7-8 defenseman along with Holzer. But unfortunately we already have Stoner in that role and on a much worse contract.

Have you seen how small and insignificant Boro's contract is?

Yes. He totally could be moved. He is an established NHL D with an edge. He makes barely over the league minimum. Every team really needs 7 or even 8 D NHL D-Men.

Not that Ottawa would get much for him. Maybe a 4th or 5th round pick. But at any moment several of the other 29 teams will have 1 or 2 blueline injuries. If Ottawa was determined to move him (they are not), they almost certainly could find a team to move him to.

I think someone would take Boro in a trade. He isn't long for the NHL, but he'd be the perfect 7th defenseman for a really young team that could benefit from a positive locker room presence.

He was captain in Binghamton at (23?) was given interim "A"s when Cameron was coach, and now has been put in a leadership role all throughout training camp. The guy got an inexplicable multi year 1 way contract from Ottawa prior to playing a full season in the NHL. The Sens never do that. Wideman, the AHL defender of the year had to take a two way contract initially. Da Costa left for the KHL because he insisted on a 1 way and the Sens held to their guns and insisted on only offering a two way contract. This says that for whatever reason, whether it is his leadership or work ethic, the Sens see him as having a positive value for their hockey team.

Honestly think Ottawa will carry 8 defenders with him being the 8th. It seems like they want him around but he just isn't good enough to be an everyday NHL defender.

Didnt this guy captain a game for your team in pre season ?

I think fans on the Sens board are a bit too hard on him, but ultimately I think his supposed leadership and him supposedly being a great guy to have around a team is a big reason why he has gotten as far as he has. He's a specific role player in a physical defenseman who can be put into tense games in order to fight and be a presence, but he is at most a 7th defender in the NHL. I don't think he is a consistent everyday NHLer in a sense that it isn't ideal to have him playing 82 games as the 3LD.

If Ottawa were to trade him, he is perfect for a young team looking for leadership. It is probably the reason why Ottawa will keep him.

It doesn't matter that much who the Sens carry as their 21st skater. There are slight implications if short term injuries pile up and they don't want to put a guy on injury reserve, but I think what will happen is that Boro will figure in as the 8th D in Ottawa.
