I'm curious what contenders might offer the Jackets for Boone and the MN 1st we just got for Jiricek? Boone is out of the lineup with injury at the moment and the team is really rallying around Werenski, Monahan, Kent Johnson, and the Russians to the point playoffs are an actual possibility. With leadership and team performance trending up in his absence I don't think he has a long term future with the Jackets (I know many other Jackets fans will disagree with me) so this could be a window to add an upgrade that can help them push for the playoffs now and over the next 3-5 years. What are the best offers people might be willing to make?

I suspect we need to see Jenner out on the ice for a while to evaluate at what level he is returning at. While he’s not that old at age 31 and has never been a guy who you should evaluate simply on point totals - I am concerned about having such major shoulder injury and how that might effect a guy, not getting any younger, who relies so heavily on a hard-nosed style of physical hockey.

Of course if he is 100% Boone, at 50%, you’ll have a line of…basically every single contender…at least kicking the tires.

I suspect the teams that would want Boone Jenner would not be teams that would value adding another first very highly, especially at the expense of giving up the best player in the deal. The package doesn’t make sense.

Boone is way too much of an ownership favorite to even be considered. While he maybe a 3rd liner winger this year ownership will nix any trade unless its a superstar so its very unlikely he will be moved.

Fair enough, unfortunately the reality is that the jackets need someone with more potential then Jenner who is ready to add to the roster either now or quite shortly which I assume would require an addition.

Also to the fellow Jackets fans, I recognize that he was a huge favorite of the previous regime but DW doesn't have ties to him and I doubt that he views him as a part of the future unless he is on an absolute sweetheart deal, which won't happen as he's a UFA. It's possible management strong arms DW into paying him but Jenner is washed in 3-4 years at best so smart asset management demands you move him for a upgrade, especially when it can only help the current roster because you aren't removing any pieces.

I'm not sure if any contenders would have interest in that first unless they feel they need to to beef up more at the deadline. Moreso, I'm not sure what type of package the Jackets would be interested in if they are packaging up a veteran leader with futures - don't they want futures?

As others have mentioned, the premise of this trade doesn't make sense. Teams would be looking to trade picks/prospects for Boone not a better player in order to get a 1st from the Wild.
