If Boeser won’t re-sign for a reasonable rate I think we’ll trade him. He’s on pace for 30 goals this year, and netted 40 last year. Plus he’s still 27 and a worthwhile candidate to re-sign.

I think we should be able to get a 1st and a prospect / player. I’d rather get that, then flip that as a package for another player who’s under team control.

Jets make alot of sense for me.

They have 3.5m capspace available today which fits a %50 Brock Boeser perfect.

They have a bushel of 1st round equivilant players maybe one theyve soured on.

Rasmus Kupari, of RH shot and faceoff winning pedigree, it everything this team needs as a piece for today, even if hes worthless.

Any combo of Kupari and Barlow/Lambert or whoever for Boeser so Vancouver then uses that 8 mill elsewhere can be a win if we play it right.
Jets aren't trading Kupari plus a good prospect for Boeser. Kupari has been really strong filling in for Lowry. He's been a very strong defensive C and fits the Jets system to a T.

I think it's possible that the Jets overpay for Boeser but I think it's a bad idea. He's too much like Toffoli who didn't work out well for the Jets at all.

So, to me, seems like the following scenarios are most likely to happen (thinking of benefits on both sides):

Boeser with extension (fit + proximity to home), to:

WPG: (for some combo of Perfetti/Lambert/Yager(longshot), no picks)
CBJ: (for some combo of Sillinger/Del Bel Belluz+)

Boeser as a rental:

DAL: (some combo of Hemming/Minnetian + '26 1st w/protection/2nd)
NYR: (some combo of Berard/Othmann/Sykora/Emery - probably no pick)
NJD: (some combo of Tatar/Bastian for cap + '26 1st + '25 2nd)
mayyybe LA: (some combo of Turcotte/Thomas + Zimmer/Chromiak + '25 1st (protected)/'26 2nd)

Obviously the better the player(s), the lesser the draft pick(s), so I am not suggesting, for instance, Turcotte + 1st, or anything like that

VAN obviously flips the futures packages and perhaps adds to add player(s) with team control (e.g. Zegras)

Why his comparable isn't Carter Verhaeghe is beyond me, I don't believe he should get more than 7 million tbh, he can't even drive his own line.

I remember how pissed I was when Benning let Hamhuis walk away in FA....this would be much worse
Depends what offers are out there. If all they are offered are picks, and it doesn't look like the return can be flipped for a winger with term or an RFA, then letting Boeser walk in the summer is probably alright. There's still a chance the Canucks make the post season, and you can't throw a shot at the post season away for a late 1st/early 2nd that is likely 3-4 years away from making any impact. Talk about morale killer: guys that need new contracts soon like Hughes and Garland will never forget that management mailed in their season while still in a playoff spot, and nor will any other free agents they try to sign in the summer. There is still value in keeping Boeser for the playoff race if that is what gives the team their best chance of making the post season, despite it feeling like a waste of assets in hindsight. If its the price of keeping Hughes happy, you pay it. (In the case that Hughes is on board with mailing in the season, then I'd be all for recouping as many picks as possible, sure, but Hughes just sat out the Four Nations to help the team--highly doubt he feels that way.)

What do you consider a reasonable rate?

If you can't sign him trade him.

Even if it's for another UFA player.

Scored 40 and on pace for 30.

Every other season under 30.
I just looked and he's on pace for under 30, so basically back into the same realm of what he normally does.

I'd say downgrade him/sell him and do what they've been doing and take those assets plus their own if need be for a player with control..

Get a lesser player with an asset so you're still going for it and get assets while not losing him for nothing.

Boeser for Mercer and a pick?
If I'm NJ? Not unless Boeser is extended, and even if so, not a high pick. Mercer is a top 6 F, is 5 years younger, is under contract for 2 more seasons after this, and has put up a 50+ point season before (admittedly, last year and this year not looking very good, but still...)

At best, this should be seen as a change of scenery deal, not a typical deadline upgrade

Edit: And if Boeser is willing to extend/waive for NJ, they'd likely be able to get a better deal from other teams for which that is also true (i.e. his desired destinations must not be as limited as we think)

Clearly both sides are playing chicken.

There's almost 0 percent chance the Canucks let Boeser walk when they are in dyer need of more assets to trade or Forwards to use.

I'm almost certain the Canucks are offering Boeser 5 yrs 7.75 mil contract and Boeser's camp wants closer to 8x8.

Thats a 25 million dollar difference so no kidding that both sides are apart.

I do believe to an extent that the Canucks are drawing a hard line on what they would pay Boeser. I dont think they'd go over 6 yrs and i dont think they'd go over 8mil AAV. Boeser is fantastic, one shot game changer, highly intelligent on the ice....however, he cant carry a line on his own. I wouldnt pay him Travis Konecny money which is 8.7 AAV.

Boeser is going to have to really really want to stay in Vancouver and take a discount and not get the full 8 yr term.

If its not done by TDL, there's no way he is a Canuck afterwards. I think the Canucks can get a 2nd and prospect for him , maybe even more if there's a bidding war. Only 28 yrs oldm clutch, good for 30-40 goals a year , why wouldnt there be a bidding war.
