Mike Krushelnyski was once a 43 goal/88 point scoring forward...

Hmmm, I wonder why?

Krushelnyski was another Blair MacDonald, Dave Lumley, Brett Callighen, Stan Weir, Niklas Sundstrom. Players that weren't anything special away from Wayne. Only difference is that Krusher had a grinder aspect to his game that these other guys never provided (at 6'2, 200 lbs most of his career he definitely had good size for a man of his era). His next best goal total was 26 (1988-89 in LA, also with Gretz and playing a more offensive role than he had on the Oilers the previous 2 years) and next best point total was 65 (1982-83 with Boston, a year where goals were pretty darn cheap so the total is merely ok). He was never better than a 2nd liner but the year he was converted to a left wing and got to play with Gretz, what happens? As for Carpenter, he's a perfect example of a shining prospect who lets all the hype and the ease at which hockey came to him get in the way of focusing on improving his game. Sometime after 1985 he lost the focus, foolishly resting on his own ability and confidence. A star has rarely crash as hard as he did, going from 53 goals in 1984-85 to just 9 in 1986-87. Even Jonathan Cheechoo only did that in a 4 year span.
