Another thing to consider is the the word ICU keeps getting used. I would bet it's actually CCU, coronary care unit, which is a form of ICU but special for just heart patients. And it is very standard practice to move anyone after bypass surgery there for a day or even two.
I've been through this more than once with my family.

It was very likely CCU but they often use ICU interchangeably so the average person doesn't go "wait, CCU? WHAT IS THAT OMG"
