Bob McKenzie Draft Lottery Edition Top 16 rankings

I'd like to hear Don Waddell's thoughts on McQueen. Last year, CBJ took Cayden Lindstrom at 4ov knowing he had injury concerns. I believe he underwent surgery for a herniated disc in November and missed most of the season (in fact, I'm not sure he played at all). Herniated discs typically aren't a one-and-done injury. They typically require lifelong management.

Knowing what he knows now, would Don still take him at 4ov or would he have gone Demidov, Catton, etc - someone without an injury history?

Excuse my lack of paying attention but what did Hagans do to slowly drop in all rankings

I remember at one point he was ranked #1 and then dropped to #2 and now he’s down to 5
He addresses in saying that some scouts say his play fell off and other say it's more Misa, Martone, and Frondell leapfrogging him (maybe suggesting stagnation in performance where the others just got better.

It’s because he’s from the US and Canada doesn’t play fair.

Or, as Mackenzie writes:

Boston College centre James Hagens, No. 2 on the mid-season list, is the only one who slipped, checking in at No. 5. Scouts seem to be more or less evenly split on the reasoning. Some say his play has tailed off; others say he was simply leapfrogged by Misa, Martone and Frondell; a few suggest it was a combination of both factors.

Which makes no sense with the WJC and post play for Martone. Just another piece of evidence that a lot of scouts just don't like Hagens for some reason.

There’s a certain poster on here that will unironically tell you that it’s because “the Canadian hockey establishment” is conspiring against him because he’s American 😂

Oh god please don't.

Nothing going on here. The Canadian hockey establishment has rightfully acknowledged that James Hagens is this draft's no1 prospect, and nothing more has to be said about this subject.

According to one theory: absolutely nothing. He remains a perfect prospect and it's only the venomous tongues of jealous Canadian media figures that have pushed him down draft rankings of every single scout who publishes rankings. (The league fears the terrifying marketability of American superstars so they will go along with it on draft day, like sheep)
