Player Discussion: Bo Horvat

Horvat since Barzal has been injured:

13 GP - 2G -2A - 4P. -12 plus/minus. Absolute 0 on the PP. Won’t bother going into the fancy stats, but they’re not great!

Shouldn’t really matter if Nelson is gone or Barzal is out - he’s our 1C, he’s supposed to be able to put the team on his back some nights. If he can’t ever generate offense by himself… what are we even doing here?

Love the guy, don’t want to move him.

But this is very valid criticism. He needs to be a shoe in of 30-35 goals.

PP sucks but he’s a big part of it. He needs to make it work. That’s what you’re paid for.

Bo with out Barzal, Palms with out Brock. Suck

Plan should be make them both best friends this off-season.

Or an idea floated on Isles House which I liked (should’ve just effin traded 21 but alas). Palms becomes stapled to Cal Ritchie on the 3rd line. Nice winger to guide our top prospect C

Not even just Ritchie, but any young player - this is a positive assuming they do follow through and sign Palmieri. He could be like a modern JP Parise or Jude Drouin. In fact, I'm not entirely sure they're not all the same guy.

As predicted, isles players are pumped at our off-season so far!

"We've got a bright future," Horvat said before leaving Canada at the 2025 IIHF World Championship because of a lower-body injury. "Obviously having the No. 1 pick is huge, too, but we also have good pieces in our lineup right now. We have some key pieces, some young players and stuff that are going to take the next step, too. I'm excited about our squad and already can't wait for next year."

"We do have the right guys in there to do it," Horvat said. "It's just a matter of putting it all together. Staying healthy is a big thing, obviously, and having our best players in the lineup every single night. It's an exciting time and I can't wait to get back."

Also side note - "obviously" has to be the most used word by a hockey player right?

Surprised it hasn't been reported what the leg injury is, any inside sources?
Not yet. New GM just got here, maybe we'll hear something on Tuesday.

My gut feeling is that if mum has been the word this long then it can't be good.

I wouldn't even be surprised if by the time official word comes out, he will have already been operated on.

My great hope is that it wasn't the ACL.

The way the play happened, that stumble followed by the Finnish player's stick preventing Horvat's right leg from extending naturally quickly enough has me real nervous.

I've seen similar situations with less contact lead to an ACL tear.

yep, my guess is it's a big bad injury and we won't be seeing him for a while. Gavin McKenna here we come!
