I remember that radio (1040) Gillis interview. And thinking at that time, “oh crap, this guy is done”. Then Benning is hired, keeps the same core, adds a few new faces, and gets 101 points. That 101 point season was the absolute worst thing that could have happened. It gave Aquilini confirmation in his philosophy we could retool, instead of full rebuild. It’s why we are mediocre, at best, right now, and are doomed for another five years. That one 101 point season will cost us at least a decade of craperolla.
