I'm not pissed that we won, I'm friggen annoyed at how shit Ottawa and Buffalo are doing. I swear if they get better picks...
Ottawa can't unless they win the lottery. They don't have a pick in the first three rounds.

Bad night for the draft, but there are more games to lose.

1) I'll never understand people who don't like Keating. Dude's awesome on the air.

2) Vrana looked like shit tonight, and I'm happy about it, just so I don't have to read more posts from the "I hope he scores a hat trick against us, herpty derp" crowd.
Vrana had by far the most dangerous chances by either team. I'm not in that crowd, but that's a spite-driven hot take there.

Oh I like him fine. I think his "schtick" is funny and I love it when the other guy at the desk starts shaking his head in reaction. And I get a kick out of trying to come up with bits that sound like they could be coming from him. It's all in fun.

Lol, I have no spite for Vrana at all. And he wasn't dangerous tonight, unless attempting 6 shots automatically makes you "dangerous."
  • took a lame wrister from 60 feet out cruising around on the perimeter that was blocked
  • took a one-timer from the slot on the PP after the Wings parted like the red sea, pretty easy save by Hellberg
  • went to the net and had a great tip-in opportunity on a pass from Thomas, great save by Hellberg, I give Vrana credit for hustling on this play
  • took a slapshot from the point that was 6 feet high and wide, Mikael Samuelsson vibes
  • took another one-timer in the slot on the PP, again the Wings left it wide open, put the puck in Hellberg's chest
  • took a wrister from way out by the half boards with no traffic and Hellberg set up, easiest save of the game
  • otherwise was awful off-puck, floating around and doing nothing useful in 2 of 3 zones all night
So yeah, one good rush and scoring opp, couple shots playing the bumper/pivot on the PP where the Wings utterly failed to cover him, aaaaaaand, a lot of perimeter play and uselessness. Certainly nothing that made me think he's a significant loss. Hell, Zadina looked better tonight overall.

Yeah, him and Ozzie are great together.

Who said the spite was for Vrana?

Now do the rest of the players. There weren't a lot of chances.

Though at the heart of it, I don't put a ton of stock in assessments of skill guys from someone who idolizes LFG... :sarcasm:

Today is the perfect day to celebrate the entire inspiration of the broadcast career of John Keating.

Because he's the hockey version of William Shatner.

I will say I am a decently disappointed in that as improved as we have been defensively this year, Husso now has slightly worse stats than Ned had last year. Not super confident that he is all that much better with a starter workload, than Ned. Ned is more chaotic in net for sure, but we were also way worse defensively last year.

I hope someone on our staff understands what's going on with our goaltending. Everyone seems to look good at first and then fall off a cliff. Greiss, Ned, Husso, Hellberg (after his first game)?

Yeah, just looked at his stats further.

First 20 GP - .918 sv%
Last 31 GP - .887 sv%

Especially odd, since Seider was struggling in the first 20-25 games, then he gets better and Husso falls off a cliff.

He's overplayed on a bad team. I don't think it's that complicated. He's only played about ~40 games in a season at most. Now he's already at 50+. Maybe he could handle that if he was playing on like.. Boston. But it's just too heavy a workload on this team.

Maybe this goal will give Zadina the confidence to finally put things together.

He said for the 100th time.
If you would have told me over his first 5 seasons he would have a shooting % of 7.4%, I never would have believed you.

Yet here we are...
