I hope we don't move Hoffman. I'm not crazy about Berube's usage of him and there is probably a longer conversation to be had about how some guys just don't work all that well in Berube's system. However, last night demonstrated exactly why it is important for the coach to find a way to make him work well enough at 5 on 5.

He leads the NHL in goals and points with an empty net and he is pretty much the only player on the team willing to take a one timer from distance. That is a layer that we don't have from anyone else. We can debate whether he has a spot in the top 9 when the roster is fully healthy, but the reality is that Sunny is out for the year and we have no idea how long Thomas will be out.

Our current roster is better with him in the lineup than if we trade him. It is clearly a buyers' market at the deadline this year. We're clearly not getting a 1st for him. I think the best realistic return is a mid-late 2nd round pick and a B- or worse level prospect. We probably wouldn't get that. I don't think the value of such a return is enough to make the roster worse. It's been a shit year, but the team has responded in the last week+. Parayko doesn't look 100% and I have long-term concerns about the decision to bring him back. But that decision has been made, so I think you owe it to the group to keep a middle 6 piece instead of moving him for a mid-value return.

I agree. Hoffman needs to be in the lineup. Shelter his minutes if you have to. I would also move him up to the top PP unit. He has one of the best one-timers in the league.

I largely agree and think he has taken a lot of heat despite largely coming as advertised. I am fine holding onto him particularly given what rentals are returning. I was just poking fun at his name being linked to so much speculation and it being TDL day.

Binnington will save
All the pucks that the Wild shoot
He says "None shall pass"

Black Knight: Come on then.
Arthur: What?
Black Knight: Have at you!
Arthur: You are indeed brave, Sir Knight, but the fight is mine.
Black Knight: Oh, had enough, eh?
Arthur: Look, you stupid bastard, you've got no arms left.
Black Knight: Yes I have.
Arthur: Look!
Black Knight: Just a flesh wound.
Arthur: Look, stop that.
Black Knight: Chicken! Chicken!
Arthur: Look, I'll have your leg. Right!
Arthur cuts off the Black Knight's leg.
Black Knight: Right, I'll do you for that!
Arthur: You'll what?
Black Knight: Come 'ere!
Arthur: What are you going to do, bleed on me?
Black Knight: I'm invincible!
Arthur: You're a loony.
Black Knight: The Black Knight always triumphs! Have at you! Come on then.
Arthur cuts off the Black Knight's other leg.
Black Knight: All right; we'll call it a draw.
Arthur: Come, Patsy.
Black Knight: Oh, oh, I see, running away then. You yellow bastard! Come back here and take what's coming to you. I'll bite your legs off!

Speaking strictly hockey wise regarding the cancellation, this gives us 4 days of rest (minus the travel to and from Minnesota) before our one game against Colorado and then 2 days off before Arizona.

could be good for the Blues to have that extra recovery and prep time for two crucial games. But also it keeps them from being able to settle into a rythym.

My hope is that they use this time to fix the powerplay and preach forecheck forecheck forecheck so we can get back to dominating 5v5 play. I also hope this gives Parayko time to adjust to playing with the team again before being thrown out against Colorado.

Sucks that this happened on all fronts, but hopefully it allows Parayko more time to heal. This was his first B2B and he looked not so good in the second game (Worse then he did in G1 at least)
