GDT: Blues vs Oilers

Schenn and Fowler decide to cover the same guy and leave Brown alone in the slot. Way to piss away a point guys. Too many instances of bad coverage late in the game here lately.
Story of the last 2 games has been awful turnovers that cost us in 1 goal games. Last 2minutes tonight was a total joke though from the refs. The fact of the matter neither of those 2 penalties were good calls and then they missed a clear trip on Walker who only had a breakaway because he came out of the box due to their shit calls.

This team always has to take the hard route. Anything less than winning the last two is putting your fate in Calgary tripping up which is not a place I want to be.

Im surprised the world isn't on fire from Binner going after Perry. Even the main boards isn't screaming at Binner being dirty.

It really seems like they boys are just out of gas. The way they keep falling apart in the last 2 minutes of regulation is more concerning by the game.

Some of you don't see it.

This team is out of gas
Yes, the physical and emotional toll of such a run, of playing ALL OUT, blocking every shot possible, skating when one's legs are unwilling, crashing into the enemy, whenever possible, and finally having the winning streak end, drains the players. And, at the same time, knowing they've just about sealed a playoff spot, subconsciously gives them permission to give in to the tiredness, and "relax" a little. Which makes it tough to get back their playing edge and confidence. They might be able to win their last 2 games. But, it may be that they won't finish ahead of The Wild, and will have to play Winnipeg in the first series.

Fine by me. At this point, I miss playoff hockey. Just get in. Even if they get smoked, which I expect absent Holloway, I want to see us play.

I’m a huge Minny fan come Friday, and with their guys healthy, they might beat them in regulation. Then we just need a freaking point to clinch. Don’t even care if we back in by having the Sharks, VGK or Kings beat them one game next week.

Nice to be able to log in again after 6 months of error messages. Been a great run, I agree with others that they are gassed. That streak both giveth and taketh.

Hopefully Monty can get them refocused. They need to win the Seattle game for a myriad of reasons. I think they will have some urgency for that game. They dont really have a choice now. That was a huge lost point to EDM's C-team.

I don't know why we chose to mix up the top 4, last night - but skipping back through the game, it seemed to have more ill-effects than positive ones.

Also, I walked away last night thinking that was one of the worst games I'd seen Tucker play. When I skipped back through, that impression didn't change, but the way he was skating did catch my eye...would not surprise me to find out he's nursing a LB injury.

Has Binnington ever played a good game post wire-crossing incident? Not putting it all on him by any stretch, but Perry's shticks really ended up being the difference in the game. It affected how the game was called the rest of the night, and arguably, threw Binnington off.

Truly a poorly officiated game. The tone of the game was essentially that they let the big stuff go, but called the tic-tac nonsense. Opposite of a playoff game. This late in the season. That's a hard game for either team to play within and completely unacceptable.

We didn’t play well at all and the officiating was the last nail in the coffin. I’m a bit surprised it was even tied before the last minute goal from EDM. I thought maybe we’d get a lucky point by getting to OT but the refs thought otherwise. We honestly didn’t deserve a point, so I’m not too upset.

We could really use Parayko and Holloway right now.

I will be excited to get Parayko back for Game 1 assuming we get in the dance. If we match up against the Jets or Vegas, those are two excellent defensive teams I expect both series will be physical, defensive slug fests with goals and scoring chances at a premium...it'll be nice to have the big man back.

Well that was heartbreaking.

Let me start off by asking - who the f*** were the announcers last night? Jesus they were f***ing horrible. Loads of dead air time. Almost no calling of game action. There was a moment late in the third where Snuggy had a chance in the slot and they were talking about something completely unrelated in a tone that reminded me of two people talking about the weather and they just kept droning on about whatever the f*** it was during and after the chance. It felt like I was watching two people who happened to be watching their first ever hockey game and simply commenting on what they've heard about the sport through social media. I mean seriously, that had to be the worst PBP announcer I've ever heard. I'm not really a big fan of John Kelly, but f***ing Christ he made John Kelly look like vintage Mike Lange by comparison. I'm not sure who the lady color person was, but oh my god please never again. I was ready to jump off a bridge by the time the game was over, and not just because of our total lack of a coherent playstyle. Like holy shit no f***ing wonder this sport can't break through if that's what we get on national broadcasts.

Ok, thank you all for letting me get that out - now on to the game. Perry is still a total prick, and the refs not throwing the book at him over his blatant cheap shot to Binny's head is in keeping with the NHL. I was actually really impressed that Binny kept it together after the second guy ran him, I think that shows a f***ing ton of growth on his part - I don't think Perry's antics got in his head at all, I think he played pretty well, but sometimes McJesus is going to McJesus and you just have to hope it's not against your team.

Our offense has looked like dooky since Holloway went down. He was clearly the driver of that second line, and without him we're now back to having a 1 line team like we've had for the last 2ish years before this one. Kyrou has taken a ton of steps forward, but I still have yet to see him become the driver that I hoped he would be. In my mind, Holloway has supplanted Kyrou as our best/most important overall winger.

I'd like to see Bolduc play with Schenn and Snuggy if we're going to keep Kyrou up on the top line, or Bolduc with Schenn and Kyrou if we want to elevate Snuggy back up. Bolduc's best asset is his shot, and he's wasted with Sunny and Neighbors, since neither of them have the skill/vision to get him the puck in space. I think we're trying to build three scoring lines with our current set up, and we should consolidate that down to two with Neighbors/Sundqvist/Joseph playing a similiar style to the WTF line.

Dvo is so so so clearly not ready. He needs a lot of time in the gym and we need to help him get his skating figured out - it's 100% going to hold him back if we can't get him up to at least NHL average.

The Tucker/Suter pairing is starting to show it's slowness. As the intensity ramps up, it's hard not to notice that they are both consistently a half step slow. I think the same thing happened to Suter last year as well - he's clearly a great Oct-March guy, but April+ seems to be above his ability at 40 (No shame in that, but felt worth pointing out).

We are still very much in the driver's seat here - we have Seattle and Utah who have nothing to play for these last two games. Calgary has a HUGE game on Friday against Minnesota, if they lose that game at all (Regulation or OT) we basically only have to win one of our last two to clinch. Last night hurt a lot to not get a point, but despair not, for we will overcome :)

Seriously so over this guy. Why do we have a 5'6 4th liner who does nothing

Yet he's laid more hits this season than any other Blue in our history. Weird isn't it? Since you also seem to not get it I'll go ahead and explain to you what a hit is. The NHL defines a "hit" as a play where a player uses their body to deliver a deliberate, forceful check to an opponent who has possession of the puck, knocking them off it or disrupting their movement. It’s gotta be physical, intentional contact. The guy has an impact on every single game he plays in. More than we can say for many other guys.
Still in shock over the last 2 minutes of that game. 4 on 4 for 2 minutes with McDavid in the box after looking to be shorthanded for the last 2. Have to score there. And then the non-call on Walker. Was the same play that they called a trip on Walker 2 minutes before. Could have easily been a penalty shot. And then total breakdown in coverage. McDavid murdered us tonight

McDavid didn't do shit, we committed suicide. No one was murdered.

His "hits" are like getting breathed on. Show me a nathan walker hit compilation. You know when you lay a hit? WHEN YOU DONT HAVE THE PUCK. He's a liability.

I think you breath wrong. With that said, I think you don't understand hockey. For someone that's such a liability you would think he would be last on the team in +/- but he's not. I mean especially with how Monty has been using our 4th line lately. You would have to expect he's getting caved in on the +/- since they get no PP time but they're not. How can such a liability be holding his own against other teams top lines?
