That's how I learned it too. I started playing near the beginning of the 1950s. We were "allowed", nay, instructed, to IMPEDE the puck carrier. I liked the game better back then than today's game, with players falling down on their own, and the closest defender gets called for tripping, or teams have pantomime artists who flip their heads backwards to pretend they were high-sticked, and the ref calls a penalty.

That’s what made Jackman an NHL defenseman, along with others.

I’m fine with opening up the game and letting the skill show more. I disagree with the one fight at a time rule. The rules in general have always been a joke. There’s slashing and cross checking all the time but don’t get called. It’s always been like this.

Can’t blame opposing teams for throwing pucks at the net to start games against us. Quite a few times we’ve had weak goals get by early and yeah.

But it’s a real flimsy strategy when you get the saves. Not much odd man stuff, even down low or neutral zone, or rebound stuff when you aren’t a bit more selective with possession and shots.

I might tune in. Are we getting g caved?
The Blues have been playing fairly well, not getting a lot of scoring chances, but the few they've worked for were good, solid chances. They've only given up a goal to McDavid on their devastatingly dangerous power play (much thanks to Binnington), but the team defence has been better tonight than over the last several games. they're not allowing all those odd-man rushes and easy back-door tip-ins.

Thomas misses AGAIN and he makes it worse because he does the head look to the rafters like always…

I can’t believe someone hasn’t talked to him about body language
