He's good. Skating without hesitancy. He's due for his first goal.I couldn’t watch last night, how did Snuggerud look?
Damn you Fred Durst!!!If we lose tonight I'm blaming Limp Bizkit
Hofer played great last night and stopped about a goal and a half above expected. Basically every stat was 60% or better in Winnipeg's favor. Expected goals were 76% in Winnipeg's favor and high danger chances were 80% in Winnipeg's favor. I really don't see an argument that he was worse than Binner's last game. Beyond just last night, Hofer has allowed 2 or fewer goals in 6 of his last 7 starts and that was his first loss since March 8th (a 2-1 OT loss).God forbid someone posts and is being realistic here. That's like the plague in these forums lol.
The truth is, we can still miss the playoffs if teams get hot and we stall. We aren't as far up the ladder as many seem to think. Each game is a must-win for us since teams like Calgary have games in hand and they gained on us tonight. I get folks wanting to rest Binny but we simply can't afford it.
Not to mention Hofer had already started two games against WPG and had allowed just 4 goals combined. And look, he kept that average last night.Hofer played great last night and stopped about a goal and a half above expected. Basically every stat was 60% or better in Winnipeg's favor. Expected goals were 76% in Winnipeg's favor and high danger chances were 80% in Winnipeg's favor. I really don't see an argument that he was worse than Binner's last game. I don't think there is any reason to criticize Hofer or the coaching staff's decision to start him last night. The odds of us turning that into a win or OT loss with Binner in net are extremely low. FWIW, Binner allowed 3 goals on 24 shots in a regulation loss the one time he played the Jets this year. Hofer has played them 3 times. He allowed 1 goal on 23 shots in a regulation win, 3 goals on 28 shots in a shootout loss, and then last night where he allowed 2 goals on 26 shots in a regulation loss.
I'm right here. No need to be indirect. Anything else to say?
BTW, I call out the good and the bad with each game. I think you miss that and are selective in your observations. You are piling on because I said something that contradicts what the group is thinking tonight.
I don't think making the playoffs is a done deal. Do you? This is gonna be a close thing and our effort tonight wasn't good enough.
Just 12 games ago a vocal minority on this board was talking about "tanking" the rest of the season in order to get into a better position for the postseason draft. I never cared for such talk nor the idea of tanking. You want to chastise negativity? Were you policing them up for such cynical discussions? I think I know the answer to that.
I think you are very selective in your memory.
Good ego check last night. Jets game planned for us hard last night. Monty needs to make adjustments, and our players need to look inside and see if there is another gear for playoffs.
Time will tell about having another gear, but the (potential) re-insertions of Parayko and Holloway into the lineup would certainly add a good chunk of horsepower to the engine.Good ego check last night.
