GDT: Blues Vs Avs 6PM FanDuel

Was tempted to read the Avs gdt again but then I remembered last week, and actually learned from it. Doing that would just make me hate the Avs and their fans more, I hate them plenty enough already thankyou.

Kyrou def missed his buddy tonight. That line got out possessed dramatically and that was the least noticeable Kyrou has been in a while. Thomas-Buch-Snuggy on the other hand was matched up against MacKinnon and won the possession battle and outchanced that line at even strength. That was a very ROR-like performance from Thomas.
Feels like he's been used to someone being able to keep up with him, it seemed like there were more than a few times he'd enter the zone and just not have the immediate support like he's used to with Holloway there.

I’ve been trying to find a way to describe how Snuggerud looks to me, and I think I’ve settled on “he looks like he’s thinking.” He’s not just playing, or flowing, or whatever you want to call it. It’s almost jittery sometimes. He’s had a fair share of Bambi moments on his skates so far. When he’s not on his butt, he looks like he’s scrambling to be in the right place, and he isn’t always sure where that’s supposed to be.

And that’s why I think his first three games have been so impressive. Despite being new to a team in the thick of the playoff race, and being in a new town with a new billet, and getting his first taste of pro hockey, he’s got 2 points in 3 games and could probably have had 2-3 more. His skill pops. I don’t think anybody on our roster gets as powerful of a shot off as quickly as he can. He’s been faster than I was expecting, and despite not really knowing where to be, he’s ending up in good places at least some of the time.

My expectations are still tempered, but I like what I’m seeing so far. Once he gets a full summer of pro training and a full training camp in under his belt, I think he’s going to be a weapon. It’s nice to see the glimpses now, but next season is exciting to think about.

It's fine to prefer that he is scratched, I vehemently disagree, but you can have that take. However, if we are projecting what will actually happen, there is no chance they sit Snuggerud on Monday. He played great and we're down a top 6 forward. Everybody from Monty to his linemates are raving about him right now. He also only has 3 NHL games under his belt. It would be beneficial to get more NHL experience before the playoffs start, so he can shake off any remaining nerves and build chemistry with the team.
He had the 3rd most time on ice among all our forwards in his 3rd NHL game against one of the best teams in the league and not only did he not look out of place, he looked like a plus contributor in his role. He's not just having flashes like showing off a great shot on occasion, he's making positive plays on every shift.

I think it's pretty clear at this point that even with everyone healthy, our best playoff lineup has Snuggerud in it.

2 goals and 6 shots for Bolduc.

Also the lowest ice time on the team

Why?

First of all, Joseph had the least ice time but it shouldn't be that hard to figure out. I'm sure Bolduc still has lots of room for improvement on the defensive side so in the third period when we were trying to cling to a lead against a surging Colorado team, I'm guessing he didn't get many shifts. The "4th" line has shown they can handle tough defensive assignments and he was playing the Thomas line as much as possible. There's your answer.

If the Blues were playing from behind then I'm sure he would have had more shifts, but in defensive shell mode Monty is gonna lean on the guys he trusts the most defensively. Bolduc played 10:24 but Kyrou only played 12:04 and Neighbours only 13:17, while I'm guessing Snuggerud was replaced by Sunny or Schenn late in the game on his line as well. The coach is playing guys based on the situation and not thinking about what a guy's TOI is.

Did they ever say what it is with Holly? I’ve just heard lower body.

Someone on X showed clips from the hit that make it look like the players skate that hit him may have come up and cut his leg. Several inches above the skate so not in any dangerous area. So makes sense when you think of Monty saying a few games just to let the cut heal up some.

But wasn't he still sitting on the bench immediately after getting hit? If it was a cut, he likely would have rushed straight to the locker room to get stitches.

Blanicks name should be on the first cup for making the historic 4 gdts for game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final

Lol, Thank you. I just wish I still had time to make GDTs like that.

I genuinely don't remember your GDTs in 2019 playoffs but do remember this post

I am done supporting the Blues if they lose in G6 but not gonna go away forever. Will still show up when my Knights play the Blues etc. and to talk Cardinals baseball and check my topic.

When you were so certain the Blues were going to lose Game 5 against the Jets when they were down. Talking about how you were going to run away and become a Knights fan.

I can't quote post in that thread for some reason but the link is here.
GDT: - WCQF Game 5: Blues @ Jets I 7:30pm CT I Prelimination Game (ft. bonus gif party)

Its a pretty good read for Dizee's flip flopping posts alone.

As for the game tonight, I obviously wasn't around but listened to Kerber, it sounded like the Blues really controlled the game outside of a few minutes late in the second and the 6 on 5 portion. Clearly the Blues have to work to fix that part of their game before the playoffs and I think Monty will.

12 IN A ROW.

Honestly my best guess is a knee strain. It seems like his knee kind of got smashed into the boards on the play. His reaction of staying on the bench to see if the pain subsides and the recovery timeline seem to kind of fit. I am hoping its a mild one and he will be ready to go game one of playoffs.

Ever since Dizee gave up his Blues fandom we've had a lot of succuss. Maybe he really is our god luck charm.

Great to win 12 in a row but having the final score be 5-4 after being up 4-0 is frustrating.

Binnington played great for 57 minutes. The Blues franchise has to be the worst at giving up 6v5 goals. It’s disappointing to see the team stop playing aggressively when playing with a big lead.

Bolduc continues his tear. Snuggerud came close to getting his first goal. It’ll happen soon if he sticks with Thomas. Snuggerud’s pass to Buch was sweet. It’s nice to see Neighbors finding another gear and generating offense.
Weve given up 2nd most 6vs5 goals this year so only 2nd worst

It’s hard not to see him as an upgrade to the top 9 next year. He’ll probably hit the rookie wall and have a stretch of low production, but he’s got the ingredients to be part of a productive line. It will be fascinating how Montgomery uses him in the playoffs. What valuable experience.

I was remembering the 0-4 sweep to Vancouver the first year that squad made the postseason. It looked to me like Perron and Andy McDonald were the only 2 players who had a post-season gear ready to go. But some of the young guys learned from that and were a lot more prepared next time. (Sadly we had a series of first round matchups vs the Cup winners and didn’t manage to get over the hump for a while, even after looking ready to go toe to toe.)

Binnington at his best going into the playoffs is a magical X factor. I hope these guys steal a series. It would be so epic to face Edmonton in a 2nd round matchup. The hockey world needs that drama.

Hey if a SCF Game 7 quadruple-assed gdt and the Blues score 4 goals (Coincidence? I think not.) to win 4-1 (after Binny went Gear 5th God Mode) doesn't warrant your name on the cup or at least a statue, then I don't know what does....Well besides playing in and winning the game of course.

And Dizee :biglaugh:
