The reffing was a game changer. I know there's the axiom that you can't let the refs win or lose a game for you, but the refs know that too. As the Peel incident has proven what we all knew to be true, some of these guys simply don't think there are repercussions for their actions or non-actions. As a result, they don't IMO maintain the level of professionalism we used to see 20 years ago. They don't seem to understand one or two flubbed calls influence millions of dollars down the line.

I haven't seen anyone mention how the Avs fourth goal should have never existed. Tarasenko was blatantly tripped momentarily before in the offensive zone. No call. The Avs announcers were stunned. If that isn't a slew foot by Landeskog on Tarasenko, I don't know what is. Puck is in the back of our net 30 seconds later. Meanwhile, Blues should have been on a PP.

lol shits such a joke. ill be making the GDT tomorrow I think, time to put these zebras on notice like I did for Ref Jose.

but remember, people will deny it when you say how their shot totals league wide are not inflated by having a entire period more of PP time than the SECOND PLACE team rofl.

"our speed draws us so much PP time" LOL yeah I havent heard that excuse before, so why are coyotes second then and the Panthers and Kings in the top 5? I mean, they are a WAYYYYYYY off from #1 but they are not fast teams by any stretch.

teams like this always crash and burn in the playoffs for a reason

Add in the pick that the ref threw on Krug to spring the Avs player to go uncontested around the back of the net and have all the time in the world to make a pass out in front.
Ahhhh that's what Krug was salty about after the goal. I missed that. I saw him motion toward the ref after the goal.

It has to be a part of their coaching. Mackinnon reacted like he was shot when he felt even the slightest touch from Schwartz's stick when being backchecked. Holding Walman's stick that led to their PP goal. That could explain the large disparity in PP time. It's such a shitty way to play the game. There was another example late in the game where Perron's stick made light contract with the outside of an Avs player's skate. The Avs player went down to the ice. No call on that one thankfully. But another example where they attempted to embellish to get a call.

However, Mackinnon, Makar and Girard are very elusive with the puck so they probably do draw a lot of calls. Double whammy from embellishing every time there is contact.

We can point to officiating last night and blame it. We can say Colorado really isn't that good and we've got their number. We can say all kinds of other things as well. The bottom line is, this team cannot take much of the 2nd period off and expect to win against one of the league's best teams. It's not good enough to survive guys getting great passes and deciding to pass it off instead of shooting it on net. Even if you believe we're as good as Colorado, after we beat them and they kicked the shit out of us, they've won 3 straight.

Talk is cheap. Results matter.

Missed the 1st. Willing to watch thereafter, but when the meltdown started in the 2nd I voted not to watch. You can't win against a team like the Avs if you slouch in the 2nd. Inexcusable. This is on the lack of mental fortitude with this team. It's their fatal flaw. They will either miss the playoffs or get booted in round one. Mental cupcakes.

i think the avs are a really good team that can break down under pressure. the blues unfortunately breakdown even more so it just never goes well for them. team looked really good until they waived off the potential 2nd goal early and spent the rest of the first and the second getting back in the game. the blues game disappeared long enough for the avs to use their deadly offense to win. the avs defense is clearly something you can get inside and the neutral zone is pretty wide open against them, but if you make enough mistakes, it's hard to prevent them from staying ahead of you and the blues clearly suffered from it last night.

If we had anyone who could finish even a fraction of the passes Schwartz makes, Jaden Schwartz could be a 100-point guy. Holy shit was he laying gifts everywhere, and no one seemed interested in doing anything with them. Anyone who thinks he shouldn't make what Schenn is making should watch last night's game repeatedly and then come back and tell everyone who was the more dominant forward all night long.
We have one, but Berube refuses to try Hoffman and Schwartz together. They have played a whopping 17:30 together at 5 on 5. No idea why those two haven't been given a look together this year. Schwartz does the bulk of his work with the puck from the left side of the ice. Hoffman finding open space to hammer home one timers is an ideal finisher for Schwartz.

Agreed with this. I’d really like to see something like this until Thomas gets back

Perron-O’Reilly-Tarasenko
Schwartz-Schenn-Hoffman
Sanford-Bozak-Kyrou
Clifford-Barbashev-Blais

Schwartz-Hoffman is the secret weapon that cannot be deployed until the playoffs. That can be the only explanation. 4D game-planning going on.
