The question now is, how do you get even more half-assed than "hockey" for a GDT?

I think there's very little chance of that.

I do think we're witnessing the beginning of the end for Elliott's time with the Blues, however.

Does that imply there's a high probability that Elliott's being shopped?

I'm a huge Allen fan but I must say i go feel bad for Elliott it seemed like he had found a home last season.

I think they'll keep him for the rest of this season, and then move/waive him in the offseason.

I don't think they will have time to wait on that.

It sounds like McDonald and Tarasenko will be back soon.

Forwards:
1.Backes
2.Stewart
3.Steen
4.Perron
5.Berglund
6.Oshie
7.Sobotka
8.D'Agostini
9.Schwartz
10.Reaves
11.Nichol
12.Porter
13.Cracknell

Defense:
14. Pietrangelo
15. Shattenkirk
16. Polak
17. Jackman
18. Redden
19. Russell
20. Cole

Goalies:
21. Halak
22. Allen
23. Elliott

They are maxed out right now. When you add back in McDonald and Tarasenko, they have to ship out two players. Now one of those is almost assuredly Cracknell, as unfair as that seems.

Do you think they will keep Elliott over Porter? I'm not sure they do.

If McDonald, Tarasenko and Oshie are all back, Schwartz could go down. He hasnt done much with the extra ice time, and Sobotka could easily fill his spot.

I think in the end we'll just put Porter on waivers, as much as I think he deserves a spot on the team. He can really put pressure on defenses with his speed, and he fits what Hitch wants out of the 4th line. He was playing when the Blues were winning all those games last season, too.

According to JR, Hitch LOVES Porter, so I'd be surprised to see the Blues risk losing him on waivers(although they already did at the beginning of the season). That would be a tough decision because you don't want to lose either player really. If they're planning on waiving Elliott at the end of the season anyway, I'd send him down. I'm not convinced they want to do that though.

Just seen on TSN (insider trading) that we are in the hunt for landing college free agent Dan dekyser a 6'4 mobile defenceman....don't know to much about him but he is supposed to be one of the more highly touted college free agents.

He's from Michigan, and Detroit is reportedly high on him, and expected to offer him a lot. I doubt that he'd choose The Blues over his home-area team (who will have just as much organisational roster room for him). We can only hope.

He's from Michigan, and the Wings need help on D. I'm going to guess he signs with them

EDIT: Robb beat me to it.

No. I love Sobotka but he does not belong in the top 9 when healthy. And I don't know if you've been watching but Schwartz has elevated his game to the next level. He's a full time NHLer unless something drastic happens with his development.

Sobotka has the edge on Schwartz at this point in time. Sobotka doesn't get knocked off the puck every shift like Schwartz does. I'll give credit to Schwartz for solid improvement so far, but he isn't able to walk in the zone like Sobotka and hold on to the puck as long. Sobotka has the slight edge due to his stability.

So did you not watch the game tonight? Schwartz carried the puck into the offensive zone plenty of times to slow down the play and make a pass for someone to get a shot on net. Again, Sobotka just doesn't have the offensive capabilities or hockey sense that Schwartz possesses. Also why on Earth would we send him down to Peoria? So the best player he has to play with is TJ Hensick?

Schwartz gets better every game he plays. Hitch putting him on the PK vs San Jose shows how much trust Hitch has in him.

I did watch the game tonight. I'm suggesting keeping Schwartz on the fourth line with Nichol and Porter when all the injured players come back. Did you watch how Schwartz was getting tossed on his back every time he receives a check? Did you see Sobotka skate in the zone, drive the net, and nearly score a goal?

Also, you can't argue with the stats…
Sobotka 7 goals, 6 assists, 13 points with 44 shots
Schwartz 2 goals, 4 assists, 6 points with 29 shots

Also, Schwartz has been playing with Backes and Oshie a ton of the time while Sobotka has not...

Schwartz made a couple of very creative plays in the offensive zone tonight. He had one where he was 1 on 2 with Phoenix, and instead of trying to be superman, he curled back and found the trailer for a great shot on net. It's so cliche, but so true that he does get better with every single game he plays. Every game he does something that impresses me.

I feel like Sobotka is a better fit for the 4th line than Schwartz. Soby is what he is. A very good fourth liner and PKer, with the versitility to jump up into the top 9 if you need him. He's an extremely valuable member of the team, but giving Schwartz opportunities to play with skilled guys, and to make creative plays with them will only make him better.

I think Schwartz will be better than Sobotka after this season, but I have to disagree about playing Schwartz over Sobotka. When we start playing in the playoffs, Schwartz's lack of stability will get exposed against teams like the Kings when the physicality gets ramped up. Sobotka doesn't get knocked over every other shift. Yeah, I saw the Schwartz pull up move, but did you see how Sobotka was able to drive towards the net and nearly stuff one past Smith? Sobotka gets my nod this year.
