I think the bubble has burst a bit on expensive fantasy shows. LotR hasn't hit. Wheel of Time had a rocky start (I know S3 had better reception but not sure on its #s). I think they are taking the wrong lessons. You still need to make a good show. But it's made them gun shy.I agree. Spending adequate time with the various tones/worlds is probably a necessity. Apple is spending big $$$ on sci-fi and Netflix is about to lose two of their biggest genre shows...my fingers will remain crossed someone has the balls to try it.
...remaining hopeful as well that Flanagan's -faithful- Dark Tower adaptation gets off the ground.
I too have very high hopes for Dark Tower. I can't wait for the first 4 seasons. The show can get a lot kess faithful for Wolves of Calla and beyond. Maybe cut King and Father Calahan out of the story.
