Blues Forum Lounge (Home of All Things OT) - Part 2024-2025

I love Battlebots. I've watched every episode EVER. I used to record them on VHS during the original run.

VLAD THE IMPALER! and Tentamushi.

But I thought they didn't get picked up for the newest season. Are you watching on Youtube? Last I heard they were releasing some limited teasers to Youtube trying to shop for a new network to pick them up after Discovery Channel didn't renew last year.
I was watching reruns from 2018

I have been trying to log into this site every couple weeks since October of last year. Finally made it. LOL

What happened to this place?

night 1 of wrestlemania was beyond bad. not even worthy of being background noise.

sunday night heats in 98/99 were better than that shit. no wonder wwf sucks now.

How does Jake Neighbours not have a massive sponsorship deal with State Farm? "Like a good neighbor, State farm is there" + "Hello, this is Jake from State Farm"

Its a match made in heaven. Im sure this has been covered before..

What are they doing over there? Maybe he or the NHL is not diverse enough.

The simple answer is that he isn’t anywhere near popular or recognizable enough for a national ad campaign. The joke really only works if you know his first and last name going into it, otherwise he’s just some guy.

They’re probably getting their money’s worth from Mahomes, Kelce and Caitlin Clark as is.

I made a youtube video:

And my buddy ran into a mouse lol:

I go up to the Grand Canyon frequently and one time, as I was leaving the park at 1am, I had to slam on the brakes because I couldn’t see anything in front of me. Almost pitch black.

There were at least 6 elk in the middle of the road. They were massive.

That one local car warranty ad with Robert Thomas is so painful to listen to. I think there is a reason why hockey players rarely get asked to do TV spots. The only ads I can remember where a hockey player has more than one line is Paul Bisonnette (New Amsterdam vodka and some sports betting app) and Henrik Lundquist (for a Head & Shoulders ad in Sweden).

And this, too. Unless you're Gretzky, there's basically no name recognition.

I like the ROR - Saros and Hedman - Stamkos commercials for financial services firm. Clever.

After a little thought, you guys are correct -- Neighbours would be a train wreck and no one outside of Missouri would get it to begin with. They'd have to run an entire ad campaign just explaining who he is and his name or spend half of every commercial starting by introducing him. NVM.

Yeah, that Thomas ad is brutal. I watch the games with about an hour delay for a reason -- to skip the ads including the in-game ads.

Brodeur was in a bunch of Enterprise ads nationwide after he signed a low-cost short-term deal with us. Coincidence?

Ovechkin and Backstrom did one where Ovie's wife was asking why Backstrom is on their life insurance policy. "If something happen to me his powerplay point might drop. How he get his assist?"

Stamkos and Hedman did one about their kids, also for some insurance, I think.

There are a lot that air in Canada. But like you said, hockey just isn't that popular in the US.

I miss the old ESPN commercials. Lundqvist being the only person who could understand the Swedish Chef, Ovi and Varlamov being Russian spies stealing stuff from the office were top tier commercials.

My favorite was the one with Danekyo of the Devils who was like "We aren't as scary as our name implies. We have nothing to do Satanism" and then they rewind it and it says "We are the Princes of Darkness, the ultimate evil" or something like that,

The Ministry show last night was fantastic!!!

Die Krupps opened with a very short set, but it was great. They did three of my favorite songs of theirs; 'Nazis Auf Speed', ' To the Hilt' and 'Robosapien'.

Nitzer Ebb was weak. As aformentioned, Douglas McCarthy (58 y/o) is sick (cirrhosis), so his partner took on vocal duties. Not as good, but still fun. The whole crowd was fired up for 'Join In the Chant'.

Ministry played songs only from 1980-1985, which is extremely rare for them. Al Jourgensen had vowed many times that he would never play songs from 'With Sympathy' or 'Twitch'. People change their minds. 'With Sympathy' is kind of softer synth pop, but they did metallic re-mixes of those early songs. It was totally unexpected and f***ing great.

My buddy and I were laughing at how old most of the crowd was. No hair or grey hair. And then, in a most sobering fashion, a fan drove by us on his electric scooter. We laughed and exclaimed, We're old!

Al Jourgensen is 66.
