Blues Forum Lounge (Home of All Things OT) - Part 2024-2025

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

I know that this is definitely not on iTunes and definitely only an A.I. parody, but I am f***ing obsessed with the power metal and voice behind it, and I want more.

That’s hilarious. You might like Dragonforce. It’s virtuoso speed metal with clean falsetto vocals. Saw them last spring open up for Dethklok. Yes, Dethklok is a real band with Gene “The Atomic Clock” Hoglan on drums.

Dragonforce is amazing, but they kinda suck live b/c no one can actually play that fast in real life.
I saw them live last year and they sounded great and I have seen shit tons of death and thrash metal bands live and they, indeed, play that fast live. It’s basically blues based rock sped up to a classical symphony pace. There are several metal as shit baroque and classical composers from way back.

Cannibal Corpse live is mind blowing.

Anyone going to the Disturbed / 3 Days Grace / Sevendust concert at enterprise next Sunday? Disturbed is going to play the entire Sickness album (doesn’t get much better than that). 3 Days Grace is amazing live (at least when I saw them). I haven’t seen Sevendust, but they have some good songs. If I didn’t have 3 kids, I’d be there!

I have three Dragonforce songs on my iPhone...but the song that comes closest to capturing the one I posted...is actually Europe's The Final Countdown, which I already have. I just want a second badass song like that. Does Europe have any other famous songs?

I'd be a bit disappointed if Disturbed only played songs off Sickness. I'd still love the show but some of their best work is off of other albums. I think Sickness is probably their best album front to back, but I love their covers of Land of Confusion and Sound of Silence, plus Inside the Fire, Stricken, 10k Fists, etc. If it had been released in my MMA days, Indestructible would 100% be my walk-out music.

They are playing two sets and being marketed as "The Sickness and Greatest Hits". So I wouldn't be too worried unless the singer.... comes down with a Sickness... I'm in done now.

Ah, it’ll be a 2 set performance. Sickness album plus greatest hits.

Disturbed is a band that I've never listened to very much, but whatever I hear is pretty good. I saw them in their very early days in Chicago, but never kept up. I love it when a huge band plays an entire album live. I think I'll go down the Disturbed path and see how it goes.

Voivod is one of the most creative metal bands that I've ever heard and have seen live. They're from a blip of a town about 130 miles north of Quebec City and could barely speak English by their 4th album, Dimension Hatross (1988). Their previous three records were raw and poorly produced, but Dimension Hatross finally showcased their sound.

Great band focused on "science-fiction" themes and the great space wars etc etc. The drummer, Michel Langevin is a great tribal, pattern drummer who is the artist behind the band's album covers and science-fiction theme.

Cool band!

Currently in the hospital. Bad UTI that they thankfully caught before sepsis. In a tremendous amount of pain, but I don’t feel like I’m going to die like earlier.

Will be there for the foreseeable future.
Sorry to hear that. Hope you feel better.

I had a similar situation about 18 months ago where I had a very mild UTI and Urgent Care sent me to the ER. The ER doctor apparently failed to read my chart, so he didn't know that I can no longer take anti-inflammatory drugs and shot me with a powerful one. I was back in the ER the next day with liver failure, kidney failure and about 4 liters of fluid trapped in my bladder. That was a fun few days.

You are very fortunate to still be with us

I don’t post here as much as I once did for a variety of reasons - chief among them being this has been one of the craziest professional and personal years of my life. A primary agent of that chaos is currently swaddled in a swing in the NICU right now, having shown up 4 weeks early. It’s been an exhausting, frightening, wonderful and challenging couple of days. He’s recovering well and is happy as a clam right now. Hopefully, he will be coming home with us in a couple more days.

Anyway, I feel I’ve been somewhat testy the past couple times I’ve posted and it all seems kinda silly now. Hope you all are doing well and hanging in there.

Aren't you the one who was buying a house?
