This is the guy the Habs should have jumped on before the Blues did.

The way things are unfolding with the farm team, I think if the Habs were hypothetically looking for a coach today, they wouldn't have to look far.

But I don't think that job would be a good gig for a coach right now. It has the makings of being a sacrificial lamb type of scenario at this particular time.

y'all already want MSL gone?

That depends on whether the message has gotten stale and the players aren't buying whatever the coach is selling. It's hard to say how the room responds to him as an outsider.

But he will have hit the 3 year mark in february. The average coaching tenure is 2.4 years.

This is the first year where I have heard the white noise accumulating on him.

Yeah, was predicting that someone was going to quickly fire their coach in order to pick up Montgomery.

Coach is fine, the part of the fan base that wants him gone do not understand that the habs are rebuilding.
though, only 4 coaches in NHL have longer current tenures than St. Louis. Has he earned having the fifth-longest tenure? Do his accomplishments back it?

What is he expected to accomplish though? Its a rebuilding team, they gonna lose a lot more than winning. Yes they will have competitive games, some great games and many overall bad ones. Just as one should in the process.

Do not fall in love with your head coaches. That is the moral of this story. Meanwhile, in Pittsburgh we are stuck with a guy who has not done squat since 2018 but is one of the most beloved bench bosses in the history of the game for some warped reason.

I envy the Blues and have a lot of respect for Doug Armstrong. It sucks for Bannister because I think he was actually doing a good job under trying circumstances. But in pro sports, if you do not win it all, you are just one of the losers. It sends the right message that winning is the only thing that matters. Not tenure, not legacy, not resume, not process, not anything else.

When it goes 5 days from someone getting fired to getting hired in the NHL, someone messed up. And it was on most occasions not the hiring team.
Monty is a good coach, but something clearly wasn’t working in Boston this season. I’m not putting all the blame on him, but a change was needed. Wish him the best in STL.
