Going to be a good game. They play us well so expecting a big push back. At this point in the season I've entered equally anxious for points as well as fearful of injuries mode. Would like to see Leddy have a good game. I'd feel a little better.

Interesting. When Krug is back I'd expect Mikkola to be the odd man out. I think Scandella has actually played pretty well recently. I think Leddy ends up on the third pair with Bortuzzo.

I agree that Scandella has played well recently, but I think Leddy is attached to Parayko for the rest of the year. He's the guy they want on that top pair and he's a pretty good fit there. Leddy's strengths match up well with Parayko's weaknesses. The 6th D spot will come down to Mikkola or Bortuzzo and I could see them rotating in and out of the lineup.

Rosen was pretty solid last game, but was not great in his appearance earlier in the year. I don’t think it makes much of a difference if it’s Rosen, Mikkola, or Bort though.

Canucks are going to want revenge on their home ice. We have to make sure we start this game on time and apply pressure all game. I loved how the Blues finished out the game on Monday, even though the goal against stemmed from a aggressive play.

I like all of this.

I expected the Husso start, but I like trying out Rosen/Bortz instead of Mikkola/Bortz. See how the bottom pairing looks with a LD more similar to Krug paired up with Bortz. I want to see a big sample of:

Leddy-Parayko
Scandella-Faulk

If those two pairs work, then you have a lot of flexibility to put Krug on the 3rd pair for half his shifts (with the understanding that Krug-Faulk will still get 5-10 shifts a night together). Get Bortz used to playing with a puck mover in preparation of that and give me an extended look at that top 4.

I'm hoping for a win, but my main focus tonight (and the next month) is on dialing in the D pairings.

I'm not sure how I feel about Leddy yet. He's been a mixed bag. He complements Parayko since he can at least exit the zone with possession, but he doesn't seem good at winning puck battles in the defensive zone and he hasn't really shown much ability to create offense from the blue line. If we're looking for a complement for Parayko I think Krug would be ideal, but not sure if they want to break him and Faulk up. Maybe they can if he can continue to play well with Scandella.

I’m not a fan of him. He looked good the first game but since then has been very mediocre IMO.

And that’s why I wasn’t a fan of the trade. Always knew it would be obvious he’s not the answer, but whatever.
