I saw him play against Notre Dame last year while my sons PeeWee team was in South Bend for the Irish Tournament. I remember him specifically because of his size and he played quite a bit. (Wasn’t thinking of it as a potential scouting opportunity).

We also saw the team in our hotel lobby the next morning and he chatted with several of the parents and kids. Was impressed with him and him taking time to talk to the kids. Hope he gets a shot. Seems like a good young man!

Kinda embarrassing to lose a trade to Chiarelli.

Idk if you can call trading a late pick for a depth defenseman a “loss.” We’ve never been shy (for better or worse) about using assets to get the guy we want, as opposed to whoever is left over. Trading up for Kostin/Bokk is evidence of that too. And our depth is good enough that even if we “lose,” it doesn’t ultimately harm us, i.e. we aren’t going to be hurting next year by not having Jerabek or the pick we traded for him.

Generally I agree that we shouldn’t have spent a pick on Jerabek when he was probably going to be waiver wire fodder shortly thereafter anyways. But we weren’t first in the waiver wire order, we must have known someone else out there was interested (MTL, WSH?), and we must have liked him as a depth piece over whatever else was available at the time. It wasn’t a great trade for us, but to me, “losing” a trade implies that it makes you worse and the other team better. I think it’s fairly obvious neither of those were true. It was a gamble, it didn’t pay off, but again with our depth, I’m mostly fine with us taking risks right now.

I know. Was kidding. Late round pick for depth defenseman in theory is fine. I blame JJ Daigneault though for pushing for Jerabek. JJ had worked with him and rather than endorsing him he should have warned us he was terrible. I was quite pleased this week to see JJ was no longer with the organization.

Another Blues connection for Joshua: played with Mitch Reinke at the World Junior A Challenge several years ago before they headed off to college. The Rampage will be a close-knit group this year.

On a related note, I really hope we find a way to sign Tommy Nappier out of Ohio State in the next few years. If we were there scouting Joshua, we would have seen him there as well. He’s a CBC graduate (barf), and has pretty much been dominant everywhere he’s ever played. In 2 years when he’s slated to graduate, he will be 23, which is a fine age for a goalie to go pro. He would make a fine addition to our increasingly impressive stable of goalies

I really like this inconsequential pick up. Watching him play in college, he is in the likes of MacEachern, Barbashev and Sunny. May not score much, but will win faceoffs and play good shutdown defense. Much like the three mentioned above, if he scores 10 goals, then you have one heck of a player. Better prospect and likelihood to play here than Perunovich.

I didn't see it announced (maybe I missed it) but CapFriendly have Blues signing him to an ELC.

It's small sample size 8 games, but damn I'm impressed of his game for 4th line center spot. Speedy, willing to play physical game. His FO% is really good 56.1%. Yet again small sample size.

Would be interesting to see could he play PK icetime. He would potentially be better than DLR.

I will give ton of credit for our amateur and pro scouts thet we have found so many decent bottom 9 players and develope them for NHL level.
