I also wonder if Winnipeg being an unpopular destination helped the jets sell high on him, with other teams assuming that inconsistent play was due to him just naturally wanting out. Dubois being middling while playing in LA made it a lot more obvious that he had something else going effort/psychology wise.
60+ pts as a C, big, fast and grit type game probably had a lot e to do with his value at the time.
Are we really doing an autopsy on a team that is just 3 games into the first round of the playoffs and leading 2-1? The team that was 4th overall last year and 1st overall this year? We’re really doing this?
Agreed. The Jets have had been great lately and improved three straight years record wise and culture post Maurice era.

Can't find 2c, sure. It's a cap league you can't have studs at every position and trade restrictions make it a bit more difficult although not impossible. at the end of the day every team will have a weak spot on the roster.

Was he supposed to get out of his way?

Holding maybe, but not interference. He's have to actually step in front of him for it to be interference
He was preventing Kopitar from covering the point man who took the shot and scored. Kopitar never touched the puck and he was being blocked.
Rule 8.3 - Interference
Interferes with or impedes the progress of an opponent, who is not in possession of the puck

.

The other player is entitled to his ice. It's not interference if he's established in his own area and the player can't get through.

Couldn't you argue that Kopitar was trying to get behind Drai and was himself impeded with? After all, he's the one moving forward

That's why that's never called. You don't have to give up your established position to allow someone to go around you.

The only time interference is called is when a player purposefully establishes a position to impede another player... like a pick. In this case Kopitar is just tying up his man on the draw. That'll never get called

Also, you quoted the Hockey Canada rule. NHL has their own rulebook... maybe look at that before pretending to be an expert on the rules

True enough but I think we could've found someone better than Vladdy in the off season, they decided to stick with him again and upgrade at the TDL if need be and we know how that worked out.

Also first post back after this site deleted my account, couldn't even re-register for a while, thanks HF.

I don't claim to be an expert I heard the panel say it could have been interference but if thats allowed maybe the Jets should do that and lets see if that's called on the Jets. I just find it strange that the Jets lead the playoffs being short handled the most (15).
I see other series and half of the Jets penalties should not have been called. It's not only me saying it ... I have heard sports panels saying that's a penalty I would not have called or that's a soft call.
So what's the over and under in the first 5 minutes of tomorrow's game that the Jets get a penalty?

The reffing has been head scratching in the Jets series for sure

Thay said, reffing is always questionable in the NHL. It seems like every minute of play there is at least one thing that *could* be a penalty, but the refs' job is at least be consistent on what is and isn't a penalty

When I used to ref, a mentor once told me that officiating a hockey game is like holding a bird in your hands... if you do it too tight, you kill it. If you do it too loose, it gets away from you

Man, to say tomorrow's game is important is an understatement. If we lose tomorrow, the Jets are going to be under so much f***ing pressure for Game 5, and I'm sorry this team I just don't think feels the pressure well.

Do agree to a extent. I think over the years there have been some good 2cs available.

Also think there should be some onus on HFs beloved prospects then, for their failures to covering that spot.

Of course he’s trying.

Just like Chuck Fletcher did, or Holland. Or the crews that repave the roads.

Is that the standard that’s acceptable? That he tries?

I just wonder what he's supposed to do if a player won't waive for Winnipeg? He could offer every roster player but the player that doesn't want to come here doesn't care what he offers. They just don't want to come here.

How do you fire the GM of the best team in the NHL this season ? That's like firing the boss of a company that just put up their best sales ever.

Not every player in the league has a NMC, or NTC. On the contrary it’s quite the opposite.

I wouldn’t rush to firing him in the middle of the first round.

I’d have done it before the season, and in years past for failing to adequately ensure a club he had managed since 2011 has made it past the first round twice.

I’ll enjoy game 4, and hopefully the core finds a way to overcome Chevy’s country club relationship with Chipman.

Like I've said before regarding Chevy being fired. Careful what you wish for. Grass isn't always greener.

Dale absolutely flubbed the Vegas expansion draft but I think Florida just got lucky that Tkachuk wanted out of Calgary. We'll never get that kind of luck.
I'd beg to differ... Helle signing for 8.5m when he would have got $12-14m on the open market is exactly that kind of 'luck'.
