The Jets have lots of playoff demons to overcome and cannot rely on the stripes to help them it will require a full team effort . Sunday will show if this is a new team or the same old same team.
The refs have NEVER helped the Jets in the playoffs.
Their playoff demons are the refs.
All 3 games vs the Blues the Jets got the short end of the stick on officiating.
Go back and watch some of those playoff series and see how many calls went against them.
I bet if the Jets were up 3-0 and Hellebuyck made that Perfetti stop it would count as a goal.
A bad call can change momentum in a game very quickly.
Good teams can’t over come bad refs all the time but great teams can.
What’s funny yes calls are missed but why do the calls always go against one team?

You can think of it as no big deal, one bad loss in the first round missing 2 top 6 Fs and a top 4D.

But the scary problem with that is it doesn't take into account the fact that playoff Helley is alive and well and he clearly hasn't figured out how to play his game in the playoffs still.
We didn’t get manhandled and outplayed because we are missing three players. It wouldn’t have mattered who was playing tonight. the Jets were not ready and they did not take the blues very serious. That game was lost in the first 10 minutes regardless of who was in the lineup

Some serious drama here..

Did we get spanked? Yup, and of course it hurts to watch our team get hammered.

However, I think the Jets will bounce back on Sunday.
You know people are really being over-the-top when even @kanadalainen can't lighten things with his trademark satirical writing.

It was literally one game.

(P.S. How did this board ever manage without you?)

Helly in full pissed-off mode next game..

51 page GDT; it's been quite some time since we've hit that mark. Love it, awesome, fantastic. Keep 'er going.

I admit I was a little out of shape keeping up with it all again. My skill at simultaneously watching the game, reading, liking, responding, finding Gif's, and opening beers need to be re-honed.

Great to see everybody contributing to the shit posting.

I never realized the Jets were a dirty team …. Blues so far 15 PPs in 3 games.
Jets had a stretch of 6 straight penalties … one was so bad the refs got caught so they gave the Blues a penalty for a makeup call.
Instead of everyone wearing white for the whiteout everyone in Winnipeg should go to the game dressed as refs.
It’s time to start calling out this BS officiating.

This is probably the most adversity Scott Arniel has faced in his Winnipeg Jet coaching career. Everything has worked out this season, but tonight a hungrier team punched his team in the face, on the ice.

Be interested to see what adjustments are made.

What strikes me is how good of night Thomas's line had, and that was the same line that head to head in Winnipeg struggled against Scheif, so the defensive pairings are obviously important. I was a little dismayed at the Morrissey-Pionk start. I think it was meant to match Blues top pair in terms of overall effectiveness, but obviously didn't. Hopefully De Melo is good to go game 4. Also wonder about Fleury coming in on the PK. The Jets need some kills.

Up front I could see Kupari's speed being useful next game, but who comes out? When 4th line has 2 ES goals in this series, 2 more than line 2 and 3 combined, (unless you count the ENer), doesn't seem like the fall should come there. But who's really playing bad, and who is ill by contrast, and not playing their best? Only Scotty knows the answer there.

I just pray there isn't a 4 game collapse, that this team can push back against adversity.

Lots of lessons learned tonight and Arniel attempting to play Schenn in the top 4 was one of them. Although it didn’t last very long. Forwards needed to help out the D more and not starting flat footed are just a few. The Blues are a very good team and if you underperform across the board this will be the result.
The Jets can stew about this for 2 days and make amends on Sunday.
If you are going to win a Cup the lows can’t be too low but learning from mistakes will go a long way.

Fun night to be a Blues fan in that building I assume

I looked this morning and we are up 2-1 in the series so they didn’t count that game as more than one win (thank god).

Like match play in golf we may have taken a snow man last night but it only counts as -1

Blues weren’t bowing out in 4

They were desperate and we weren’t

Its officially a series now

It’s all about the response. We know our history in the playoffs, we like to group our losses together in fours

This is a great opportunity for this team, and our starting goalie to make a statement next game.

The Blue print for the Blues was the same as the first two games so all they really did is stick with it and it worked much better last night.

Next game is big we don’t want to come home tied up at 2-2

Hey we are in a series and those come with highs and lows we just need to respond Sunday

I know it's a large part of the reason why I don't bother responding to most people in these threads. The hyperbolic whinging and overreaction is f***ing infuriating.

Every fan group across HFBoards suffers from this problem. Some fans can’t handle defeat. I tend to ignore PGT’s after losses since I am not a therapist nor do I want to play one. We haven’t lost much lately so my tolerance level is more stout today. Have to make the kids lunches here and get life rolling though so man the ship for me.

Had to miss this one. Thank god! Why didn’t DeMelo play?

Illness. We just have to hope it's not spreading. If Melo wasn't willing to tough it out he was probably feeling pretty bad. There's a bad flu ravaging my work and my wife's work right now. So far we have both avoided it but it's a nasty 5 day minimum stay in bed type.

Sometimes, the inferior team gets lucky. Sometimes, that means “in every conceivable way” — upstairs refs, ice level refs, missing key players at the eleventh hour, puck bounces, brain cramps; all of these things are why the better team doesn’t just win every game.

Remember game 3 against Minnesota?

I mean, I don’t because I was blackout drunk, but what I was told about it was that it went like this.

So relax.

Deep breath.

The Universe is unfolding exactly as it should.

The team would not lead you astray.

I would not lead you astray.

Full credit to the Blues last night they came out hard and the pushback from the Jets just wasn't there. They went up early and never let off the gas. Binnington came up big on the few good chances Jets had. Heck he even technically made a great save on the non-goal call. We will see if this is the team of the last few seasons that tends to collect loses in 4's or if there is an adjustment and pushback next game.

Having DeMelo out with a flu didn't help things as D pairings were tossed into a blender last minute. But that's an excuse that won't cut it at the this level.

Schenn was god awful in this game and he got exposed through matchups as very slow. If Melo is good to go sunday then I think you plug Miller in on the 3rd pairing and sit Schenn out.

The best thing that could have happened is a blowout loss to this team right now. They haven't faced that yet and hopefully they come out pissed off and ready to take this series to the next level.

Expecting a bounce back game because that’s what they did in 2018 is wishful thinking. This Blues team is better than that Wild team.

Vilardi isn’t going to miraculously save the offense. Remember how ice cold he was prior to getting injured? And Ehlers is MIA until who knows when….

The PK is horrid and they cannot stay out of the penalty box. The team doesn’t know how to start the game with any sense of urgency. A bounce here or there in games 1 & 2 and they could very well be down 3-0.
