Oh my! Face palm!Odd timing on this article - meaning, very poor.

Wanted to check McIsaac out. Played very sound D against Tri City. Unafraid shot blocker. Calm in his own end. Reminds me a lot of Mayich. Just very solid defensively.
Have to say Jackson Smith is far better a prospect than Mrtka. Good in his own end and shifty with the puck. Not bad on the PP. Really good skater. He did a far better job against Cristall and Catton. It’s not close. He’s a top 10 pick.
Owen Martin is a good player for a possible late round pick. He is relentless.
Lefty shot thoughI think Smith is a real possibility for us around 8-10.
Lefty shot though
Don't forget LindsteinBesides Broberg, who are the other LD you are concerned about?
Just curious, which side does Ralph, Juricek, Fischer and McIsaac play?
Don't forget Lindstein
IDC what hand D we get.... as long as they can play on the top pair someday. Prefer RHD if i have the choice though. Parayko won't last forever and hopefully faulk is out of town relatively soon.
Ralph Fischer and Burns are all leftiesBesides Broberg, who are the other LD you are concerned about?

McIsaac was one of the only defenseman I thought stood out in our last prospect tourney. Seemed calm, made good passes, seemed to break up plays. Not flashy and not a high draft pick, but seemed overall solid against his peers.Wanted to check McIsaac out. Played very sound D against Tri City. Unafraid shot blocker. Calm in his own end. In today's NHL that is a recipe for failure.Ralph didnt seem overly physical when I saw him. I’d love to have my bottom 4 all Joel Edmundson types.

You have to have some puck moving ability spread throughout your defense.
I get it, but we tried that with Leddy, Krug and the other Smurf. I just didn’t like it. I want some bruisers
We had two bruisers on the Cup team. That’s good enough as long as the others aren’t too soft.I get it, but we tried that with Leddy, Krug and the other Smurf. I just didn’t like it. I want some bruisers

How would this D fair? No wisenheimer answers because there are 4 Edmundson’s lol
Broberg / Fowler - Parayko
Edmundson - Edmundson
Edmundson - Edmundson
Badly.
You'd be spending more than half the game pinned in your defensive zone.
What you ideally want is something more like this:
Fowler-Parayko
Broberg-(Edmundson)
(Edmundson)-(PuckMover)
You've gotta be able to get the puck out of your zone or your (Edmundson) types will get overworked and exposed. You're not bruising anyone if you're dead on your skates.
Totally agree. Overall toughness is what I really want. Up and down the lineup, I want physicality.I don't think having Bruisers really matters all too much. What we had was size, good skaters and reliable defensive players. Dunn was the exception to that - but he also was extremely competitive and added and element of offense. We also had Pietrangelo who could add in offensively. We're still lacking that a bit, but the way Parayko has been playing this year we have another element added. I just think we went too far searching for offense from the backend with Faulk/Krug. It helps if they're elite enough to control the game while they're on the ice.
