Drafting isn't just about taking the guy you have ranked highest, especially when you have 2 picks pretty close to each other. We picked Ralph 48 and Fischer 56. If you have intel that a couple teams picking between those spots love Ralph, it could be worth the risk to pick him first to try to get both even if you have Fischer ranked higher. Scouts see each other at rinks throughout the year and they are going to talk. As tight lipped as NHL front offices can be, it's impossible to completely prevent other teams from having an idea about the guys you like.
Or maybe we simply liked Ralph more because we're talking about projecting 18 year olds for what they will become 4+ years down the road. Fischer wasn't a lock to take the jump that he's taken this year.
