I would say that Stenberg's game is the closest, but I think he's only 50/50 to come over next year. I would keep Lindstein and Stancl over there. Lindstein's development is very important, and I think the WJC performance indicates we should slow our roll on projecting him too quickly. Very excited about both of them, but not yet IMO. Stenberg though, I could see the argument either way.
 
Yeah let's keep Stancl in Europe good call on that, really good observation that he isn't ready to play in Springfield next year yet, from the gut just from reading about it

This is my point, a lot of the "balance" is literally between those watching these players and those who aren't but aren't personally ready to be excited.
 
Burns and Pekarcik have games starting an hour before the Blues game, I think that's it

It looks like Lindstein played today for Brynas. Couple shots, no points, 10 minutes ice time, -1. but Stenberg hasn't returned to Malmo yet. Again, their teams play each other this Saturday morning and then again Feb 11.

Watching Burns a bit. Skating solidly this game, made a couple plays already. They called him "the Sheriff, Quinton Burns, number 41" early in the game when he was handling a scrum in his crease.

Had him out there defending (successfully) a 5 on 3, then a shift later QBing the PP. just missed getting an assist on a break in that was saved.

But… Stancl isn’t in Europe, he’s in Western Canada
 
Saw this little scouting snippet on EP re: Colin Ralph's performance in the gold medal game on Sunday. Thought I'd share.

January 5th, 2025 - USA U20 vs. Finland U20

A mainstay on USA's third pair, Colin Ralph was solid here. His defensive range is his best element, capable of defending rushes, winning down-low battles, and matching high-pace attackers. Beaten a few times with his overaggression, but he plays with such a high pace defensively that he was a clear net-positive. The puck game remains an issue, lacking the control to keep up his ideas.

What exactly does terminating the loan agreement mean? Like he’s coming to Springfield? Or they don’t like him in Malmo for some reason and he’s going to a different Swedish club?

I think Blues signed him, and then loaned him to SHL and Malmö (or Frlöunda who then loaned him to Malmö, no clue), so by terminating the loan means he needs to report to Blues, since he has a contract. Im just "boyguessing"

Seems like he is going to Springfield. This appears to be driven by Blues and/or Stenberg rather than Malmo.

You are correct. The Blues control his rights so he was loaned back to Malmo. But the Blues have the right to terminate that. The loans are usually for the full season but looks like Stenberg and the Blues wanted to get out of there.

What the article doesn’t state is where he’ll be playing next. It said NHL but that’s just that the Blues are putting him somewhere else. He’s not NHL ready so he wouldn’t go there.

This is all very odd and interesting. So he’s been in N.A. this whole week and we didn’t know. And he hasn’t been assigned to a team so my guess is the Blues are trying to find a good landing spot for him. Maybe Springfield? I don’t recall him ever being drafted by a CHL team but I’ll go look that up now I guess.

Edit: he was never drafted by a CHL team. I’d assume he’d still be able to join one as a free agent but CHL teams are restricted to 2 Euros each and I’d bet almost all of them have their 2 spots filled already so finding a spot for him on a quality CHL team may be hard unless a team is willing to ditch one of their current Euros for Otto (which is what Sudbury did to add Dvorsky a year ago).

My guess is he ends up in Springfield but tbh, the CHL would likely be a better place for him.

I am one of the people saying Stancl has been good in the detailed ways we're observing because I've watched him like 15 times this year including 7 games at the WJC all his shifts. I've referred to Kelowna/playing with Andrew Cristall (who just got traded at the WHL deadline) quite a bit. I'm reporting seeing a guy taking a big, exciting step.

Others aren't watching him. Some of them are trying to sort out between the comments how good he might be, and they have to parse between the people watching him (I am not the only one at all) and the people who are providing balance by observing that from what they've seen of him he's not ready to come over from Europe. I think the comments about him playing in Europe should get less weight within the balance.

Lindstein is back and played yesterday but Stenberg not going back definitely suggests something is up and I can't wait to see where it is

I think he could do well in Springfield. We’ll give him more favorable deployment than his SHL team was I’m sure, and I think he could work really well on a line with Dvorsky. Not sure he has all that much to gain from playing half a season in the CHL.
 
Wow, that's big news. I would be pretty surprised if he's not in Springfield. If you read between the lines during Army's post WJC interview he didn't seem overly thrilled that some of his premium guys are playing limited minutes in the SHL. I like the move. Stenberg looked awesome in the WJC and I think of all our prospects he's best suited to handle a man's game considering his build and his trajectory as a prospect.
 
Great news on Stenberg. With how they are approaching Dvorsky and how they handled him last year as well, this says to me that they are making the best decision for Stenberg, regardless of the reasons. Is it because he's genuinely ready for that next step or that they simply want him in a situation where he gets more minutes to develop how we want him.

Kind of what Army talked about, it can be hard to develop in Euro pro leagues for young players as that's their NHL, development really isn't a top priority.

I heard Stancl may be traded to Calgary Hitmen.
