much more excited about Fischer than Jiricek. instincts can be wrong but I have had an instinct about Fischer that he can grow into being one of those ~5 very strong versatile minutes capable defenders you need on an eventual Cup run. like Gunnarsson-type importance to the Blues 2019 D corps
I'm high on Fischer...i think Jiricek, if he can stay healthy and stabilize himself, still has the higher upside but I see 3/4 upside with him if he hits. A bit like Broberg actually when he fully fills out. Less offensive but even more physical, great skater, very good shot, etc. He's about 6'4 now and dad is 6'5. Look forward to seeing what he can do when he fills out his frame to 210-215lbs as he's only 180lbs right now.

I can’t remember the names but over time there have been a few NHL level prospects who left their team to play U20. If anybody remembers remind me: I hit up google but failed.

If I were the Blues I’d be pushing for him to go. Even tho the competition is non pro, it’s very meaningful hockey and Dvorsky will have a leadership role.

For me, Bedard/Michov/Mcdavid/Matthews is the level of prospect where you don’t send them after they’ve become pro. Everybody below them should go.

Kirby Dach is another one of these players granted leave from the NHL club for 2020-21 WJC. And he got hurt in a preliminary game, missing 4-5 months after surgery.

Dach looked pretty rough when he finally returned to action the next season. Severe regression relative to the Dach seen in the bubble playoffs 9gp 1-5-6p when Chicago upset Edmonton 3-1 for the play-in round before getting bounced by Vegas in the first round 4-1.

That was a beaut. I’m excited to see him live up to his draft status. I think once he’s for-real healthy and not just gutting it out, he’s gonna surprise a lot of people.

Jiricek is back tonight. He looks a bit rusty, which isn't surprising as he hasn't played in 5 weeks and has only appeared in 4 games in 12 months, but he is moving well and seems healthy.
Watched the game this morning. Looked really good. Not real physical, but can’t say he was really put in the position to be. Solid passing. Constantly tape to tape passes to his forwards in transition. A few nice rushed. My only issue would be some positioning giving up the inside.

O’Brien and Acheson are both first rounders. Both good players I would be happy with the Blues taking. O’Brien is a good 2nd line center prospect. Very good passer. Played against good prospects in this game well.
