I caught a couple. Think he has real shot at nhl future. Reminds me of Edmundson. Physical guy with decent skill but struggled in face of aggressive American forecheck. Hopefully that was mostly bc he didn’t see as much of it back in Europe and he will adjust.Anyone caught any team Sweden games? Curious how Loof has looked.
That’s a good comparison. I see Loof as a Mikkola or Edmundson caliber of d-man. If we can get a 3rd pairing d-man out of a 3rd round pick, that’s gravy.I caught a couple. The NHL Prospect Tournament returns to Traverse City for its 22nd season, running from Thursday, Sept. 16 to Monday, Sept. 20, with a five-team field set to compete this year. The Red Wings will host the Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, St. Louis Blues and Toronto Maple Leafs for five-straight days of round-robin action, with each team playing either three or four games.
It was 8 teams until it was cancelled in 2020 and then only 5 last year. Maybe need a ramping up period? Thanks for posting.
A couple of take-aways - first, there’s only 5 teams. Usually there’s 8. I wonder why others pulled out? Maybe they’re not seeing the value in going anymore.
Additionally, it tells me main camp likely starts Sept 21.
Was it only 5 last year? I was admittedly pretty unplugged from all things non-Covid for about 18-20 months there so who knows what all I missed. It was 8 teams until it was cancelled in 2020 and then only 5 last year. Maybe need a ramping up period?
I recall asking the same question about a month ago. Is there someone that is usually in charge of doing them?No prospect ranking polls this summer?
That sounds like fun!!Was it only 5 last year? I was admittedly pretty unplugged from all things non-Covid for about 18-20 months there so who knows what all I missed.
I recall in the past, the Wings were turning other teams away as they wanted to cap it at 8 teams. But then other similar prospect tourneys cropped up so I’m sure that lessened the demand specific to the TC one.
One of these days I’ll have to plan a family vacation in TC that just so happens to coincide with this tourney.
I forgot who it is, but seem to recall that they’ll be tied up and unable to devote time to prospect polls this summer.I recall asking the same question about a month ago. Is there someone that is usually in charge of doing them?
Then you don’t want to do it. LOLI want to do prospect ranking votes but don't want to put in the time/energy to organize and plan it.
I’ll do it. Or does it have to be a mod that does it?Then you don’t want to do it. LOL
We suck this summer.
I just started itI’ll do it. Or does it have to be a mod that does it?
You mean something like this thread? Those interested could just make their own top-20 and it can be ranked as a weighted average. One thread instead of 20.
Yep…still the better way to do it!You mean something like this thread?
lol
I agree 100%. We discuss and rank our prospects here all the time, but our Prospect Polls have become a bit of a tradition.Yep…still the better way to do it!
That's a crazy stat. The last Blues draft class to not have a single player reach the 100 games played threshold was 1970. St. Louis has had a remarkable run of avoiding strike-outs at the amateur draft, despite a long history of trading away first round picks or treating the draft as an after-thought. The 2017 draft is the last class to have a player reach 100 games, with Robert Thomas doing so. 2018 has a strong likelihood of Perunovich or Hofer reaching the mark...but 2019, headlined by Nikita Alexandrov and Colten Ellis seem like the most likely chance of a draft class failing to produce a single NHL-caliber player ('09 was dreadfully close too).
Blues are strong at center and forward in general. Does Washkurak or Alexandrov keep that streak of draft 'hits' alive, or does it finally end after all these years (omitting the skipped '83 draft)?
Winning the Cup would be the main reason for it to occur as well. We traded away our 1st round pick in the draft to bring in the Conn Smythe winner. We didn't pick until #62, which is the latest we've made our first selection since 1994. We only had 5 selections and we used 2 of them on goalies, who have to be much better than a skater in order to accumulate 100 NHL games played. That's a crazy stat.
Would be kind of fitting if the first draft class to not have a player reach 100 games since 1970 was the draft after winning our first cup.
