Figured something like this would happen. I had that convoluted idea earlier in the year to call up send down Sanchez/Hutch to alternate starts(as the schedule allowed it with the 10 day rule), well with a 6 man rotation and thus 5 other guys already on the roster it doesn't need to be so convoluted. Just sending him down to skip a start so he can be up in 10 days for whenever his next start rolls around.
Isn't Hutch on Pittsburgh now?

next 6 games are against 2 last place teams.
Gotta win at least 4/6 so the lead in the east, so they can keep pace with boston.
So the Sanchez move burns an option year this late in the year. Something you normally don't like doing, getting this late into the year(just 11 more days and it's September full 40 man roster eligible).
Made me wonder, how many option years does Sanchez have left? I don't believe he used one last year, he got hurt and his minor league stint was likely rehab. In 2014 he wasn't on the 40 man to start the year correct? and when he got called up he was here for the rest of the year, so he didn't burn one then did he?
So I'm assuming this is his first option year burned? And thus likely not a big deal with how well he's pitching it's unlikely you'll need 3 more option years
Just a thought that popped into my head.
This will simply mean he accrues 0.943 Years of service time instead of 1.000, So it won't matter in the slightest.
A player is assigned three options as a rostered player. Each year, when a player who is on the roster gets sent to the minors for a stint of more than 20 days, it counts as an option. At some point in this yo-yo ride between the minors and majors, a player can run out of options and, if you want to again send him to the minors, he must be offered to the other 29 teams in baseball through the waiver process.
