Soto is gonna be a huge part of the Yankees for the foreseeable future. Turner not so much.
Soto is a free agent after this year, and will go where the money is. You have no guaranteed proof he will stay with the Yankees.

And you didn't bring up age in your first post, only their stats. And now, as usual you go to a strawman argument. Pathetic.

Isn't he expected to be a one-and-done? Tough to see the Jays being a team likely to get a guy like that extended long term. Would've likely been a waste of futures.
There’s a chance he re-signs. I think it’s a pretty good chance that he re-signs with the Yankees now.

As opposed to Turner who is 99% a one and done.

Good thing the Yankees have money then. ;)

As for not bringing up age in my first post…

Atkins signed 38 year old Justin Turner as the solution to the Jays offensive woes. Hitting a glorious .100 so far.

Meanwhile Cashman actually went out and did something with Soto and he’s hitting .500 with a 1.261 OPS so far.

Very small sample size but I’d be surprised if the results change too drastically by game 162.

Why didn't you say how old Soto was? Clearly not an issue then, lol.

And yes, as I've been telling you forever, the Yankees can spend to their hearts delight, while the Jays can only watch and be jealous.;):thumbu:

Jays have like a top 6 payroll in MLB I think.

And I didn’t spell it all out with Soto’s age because I thought it was obvious in the tone of my post about Atkins signing a 38 year old player instead of acquiring a younger star to fill a major roster hole.

But this year wasn’t a great crop so maybe the stop gap was the way to go? It’s working for now, you haven’t burdened yourself with a bad contract moving forward. I think in the list of really bad things he’s done, this one is a ways down there. Remember 2 parties are involved in the contract process. If you don’t have a player you want willing to commit at a reasonable price you don’t have a deal.

You should stop while you're ahead, lol. Yankees spent 80 million more per year.;) Yankees also have over 11 million buried while the Jays have 31,000 buried.

Turner with a .386 average.

Soto with a .344 average.

Soto is very good, but Turner is better value for money. I figured he would do well.:thumbu:

Nice win for the jays tonight. Would be great to win this series. Hitting still is suspect but they are putting together a few wins now.

Their pitching, as expected, is carrying them. But they badly need Vlad and Bo to start making an impact. Tonight should be interesting, because Kikuchi is a Yankee killer.

Well that's something else.
How in the hell did they get the wives to go along with this. And how the relationships with their kids was. Just when you think you’ve heard most of it all, another surprise comes at you around the bend.

most of the pitching has been excellent (Francis, White, and Gauzman not included), most of the hitting has been brutal (Turner, Clement not included). Hopefully the bats can get going, and Gauzman can get back to being Gauzman.

Varsho starting to heat up. Here's to hoping he can actually sustain it.

Turner, Biggio, Clement, Schneider. They have some good sticks, they just need the consistency.

Not according to a certain poster on here.;)

I think Kikuchi would love to play the Yankees every start. He absolutely owns them.
This board has this fascination with hating on older players, even when they do their jobs, lol.

The only time I feel secure in streaming Kikuchi is when they play the Yanks too, which should be crazy haha.
