Looking for the don waddell reference in this thread, and that time 4 senior players, including werenski, met with the organisation and told them, "you have to get laine and merzlikins out of here", but you know he was nothing but a great teammate right?
It's already come out Laine was the only who asked for the trade. This wasn't Evander Kane in Winnipeg.

The Jackets front office and coaching staff were changed out and he still asked to be traded. True leaders like Boone and Werenski stay and try their best to improve the team. Soft players like Laine claim it was someone else's fault.
Laine obviously has some mental health issues and I wish him the best on that front, but I will never cheer for him as a hockey player again, unless he does a 180 on his attitude.

Where is the outrage about their own GM?
Gee, it's almost like there's a difference between somebody who is *presently* within the organization calling out a problem culture and pledging to fix it, and somebody who *abandoned ship* calling out a problem culture after they left so they can instead claim 'Oh, but it wasn't *my* fault though'.

Again, pot, kettle, black. Laine was part of the problem in Columbus, not the solution. He missed nearly half his games, and half-assed many that he did play. Then he asked for an out, and is now badmouthing the people there who granted him an out and did their best to support him through his struggles.

It's rare to see somebody be that tone deaf -- and right before walking back into their building. For Laine to go out and get injured after the first is just icing on the cake, but I guess he just didn't want the win enough 🤷

Montreal players will take note of this fool’s comment. When the Habs hit another slump, and he does nothing but turning the puck over in the neutral zone, Canediens players will know they can’t rely on this soft guy.

So you said it, he missed nearly half the games, yet you point him out has if he was a big part of the problems, did I miss something and the cbj have been fantastic this year? I always liked werenski for his talent, and he answered back like a true captain, dont actually know if he is or just A, doesn't matter, but in reality he gives me scrub vibes

No we aren’t. Again, expectations are different. Montreal spend to the cap every single year and their fans expect wins.
Glad fan expectations is really driving those wins. You've been chirping the whole thread. Montreal hasn't won a cup since almost a decade before the CBJ even existed. You can climb down from the high horse whenever you're ready.

Also Columbus has spent to the cap plenty. Great ownership group.

Do we expect many playoff bound teams pay to take on Laine atleast without some heavy retention?
I wasn't talking about this season. I may not have articulated it as clearly as I could have when I said: "He's got 1 year left after this and if things go south, they either trade him at the deadline or just move on."

What I meant is that if trouble starts down the road, next season they can either trade him at the deadline or just walk away from him as he's a UFA after next season.

As for playoff teams? Yes, I do think that there would be a market for him next season at the deadline. It would probably take some retention, but why would MTL care about retention for the remainder of next season, unless they themselves are in a playoff spot.

It's also fun he claims he wants to win but also allegedly blocked a trade to Minnesota, a team significantly better than Columbus or Montreal currently
I find this hard to believe. Not that he'd be stupid enough to block a trade to Minny, but that of all GMs Bill Guerin tried to trade for him

Werenski sounded really butt hurt. A class act would have just laughed that off

Correct. No better way to show off your hurt fee fees than to rant about them to a reporter. If Zach was truly part of the solution in Columbus they would have been a lot better than they have been during his tenure.

Honestly is Patrik like on the spectrum or something? Or is he just a quiet Finn that might have way of talking after the fact that is off-putting?

Seems like a trend with him ending up not liked with team leadership. We’ll see what happens with Montreal if the team isn’t good enough to win.

Laine is the opposite of every fin

For a guy who lives on a video game console and buys a new TV about 30x a year on the road.

I’m not sure I would be calling out other organizations for commitment

Well, let me tell you a little thing about hockey. It's a team sport. Werenski has been very good his entire career, this year even better. One guy can't win by himself. Z plays his ass off every single night, unlike the other guy we're talking about in this thread.

Also no NHL city gets more wrapped up in it's own feelings more than Montreal. Everyone outside of Montreal realizes that. I didn't forget when Chara hit someone and you losers were calling the cops lol. Whole city Soffff.
