It's true. While it looked like the Blue Jackets might have been on the upswing with 4 straight seasons of making the playoffs, they clearly made a disastrous decision in 2020 that caused them to miss the playoffs the next 4 seasons. Something must have infested the locker room with a loser culture that year. I wonder what it was.

I love Werenski, you can tell that’s coming from the heart.

The habs have become an echo chamber of cheerleaders and Laine is just falling in line.
There’s no need to rip your old org for a team that has been dogshit since new management has come on board

Garbage take. Mental health is more important than hockey.
His mental health problem was his team mates hated him because this is how he talks. That's why the Waddell was in the media begging to get him away from the team and then willingly paid to do it.

Laine was definitely out of line to say something like that. But the funny thing was Werenski didn't deny what he said.

The major difference here being those “trolls” typically pay to support the team and players on those rosters, while this player received $32.1M from the team he just openly shit on, earned exclusively by way of those “trolls” paying their money to see the game.

Very odd usage of the word.
The dude is allowed to have his opinions and state them , he even paid for them by getting targeted and eating a fat L

Yeah, I'm sure it's much better now in Montreal where he's going to get some playoff experi....oh...nevermind

Where is the outrage about their own GM?

Are we really going to deny though that Columbus was clearly tanking during Laine's stay there? It was pretty obvious based on some of the decisions that were made.

I don't blame them for it, that's sometimes what you have to do for the future of your team,. But obviously Laine had a difficult time accepting the position that he was in.
Tanking? Is that why we signed Gaudreau ?

We won more rounds in the playoffs 3 years ago than the Jackets have in their 25 years. The expectations aren’t the same at all, to deny that is just lying.

He wasn’t part of that process, Laine was

Had nothing to do with today’s situation. Montreal and Columbus are on a very similar path right now

Laine is still planning for next season in December. To deny that is just lying.

No we aren’t. Again, expectations are different. Montreal spend to the cap every single year and their fans expect wins.

There was probably some truth to Laine's statement. But that is something you don't spew to the media, especially when it sounds like both the organization and players were supporting him through a hard time.

If the Habs were smart they'd start telling the media they can't interview Laine.

Looking for the don waddell reference in this thread, and that time 4 senior players, including werenski, met with the organisation and told them, "you have to get laine and merzlikins out of here", but you know he was nothing but a great teammate right?

Probably was referring to Jarmo's management and coaching personnel moreso than the players. They cleaned house so obviously the owner felt the same way as Laine.

Just based on play I would guess guys like Provorov only care about the NHL pay and don't put any effort into improving or winning. Just based on the fact that he only shows up to his potential in contract years.

Could also be calling out the coaching and management for dicking around all the young guys who were hungry to win and play in the NHL in favour of scrubs.

Could also be calling out the fact that the GM didn't add much to improve the roster when they had a decent mix of youth and vets.

Either way Columbus dumped a bunch of guys in the off-season/after firing Jarmo. Boqvist, Bemstrom, Bean, Roslovic, Texier, Gaunce, etc. Guys given big minutes and some of whom aren't even in the NHL this year.

It is, however, unlikely he was calling out Werenski who has been one of the lone bright spots in Columbus for years.
