He preferred the money.
As I understand correctly, and I listened A LOT of hockey people, interviews, he prefer to play columbus. 500K isn`t the big gap. If he wanted to play here, he would ask Fitz for repeat the money.

Not I believe he can be happy with his 3mil plus.
I was hardly against him. I`m very happy we didn`t try to win this battle whatever it takes.

I wanted him here and am bitter that he he went to Columbus and now I will root for his failure at everything he does in his hockey life.

I hold a grudge

In all sincerity, I'm somewhat surprised Columbus is this bad.

They don't look like a good team on paper, but they don't look terrible.

I'm sure they were hoping they'd be better with Gaudreau and Laine.

Even though Laine isn't very good, but I don't think they're aware of that.
Majority of the major analysts and websites has them as bubble playoff team and ahead of us in points by a bunch ….
They thought adding Johnny to play with Laine would make an “already solid “ team a playoff contender ….
I never did understand why people thought that . They lost Bjorkstrand and added Johnny , that’s not THAT much of a turnaround if a somewhat crap roster .
Jackets are only decent when they out work the other team . They used to do that and had the players to play a heavy game . They are just meh now

They're not good today and Merzlikins isn't right. They should improve if Korpisalo is healthy and as their young guys improve. But this is a good time to play them.
Korpisalo? Did you just say they should improve if Korpisalo is healthy? Improve and Korpisalo in the same sentence?

You do realize he SUCKS, right? I mean, worse than David Rittich SUCKS. EVEN WORSE THAN MACKENZIE BLACKWOOD SUCKS!

He was the only NHL regular (That hasn't since retired) to have a lower save percentage than Blackwood since February 20th of 2021, when I looked it up the other day. He hasn't had a particularly good season since his rookie year all the way back in 15-16 and he's had one other average/slightly above average year in his career in 19-20. And then he's had just one other season that's first digit started with a 9 and everything else has been 8-something in his career.

As bad as Merzlkins looks sometimes, he manages to outplay Korpisalo EVERY YEAR in Columbus. Bobrovsky has too, outside of the Korpisalo's rookie season 7 years ago.

If they're counting on Korpisalo to help than they're even more f***ED than they are now. They're DUMB for even re-signing him.

quench your grudge, now.

I understand that we have Bratt and Jack and it`s enough of offensive drivers for this team. Strong power\interior players was what this team hardly needed. For now I see the good balance of talants and hounds.

I never believed this. I was CONVINCED the Devils, even at their most mediocre, would still be a better team than them, Philly and the Islanders.

Johnny got way older looking when they showed his headshot for this year earlier in the broadcast.

It was taken approximately two months after his signing with Columbus, so that's about 60 days to lament over such a bad decision.

Honestly, I don't have much issue with Columbus. I'm not one for landlocked states/areas so it's not for me, but I'm sure it's a nice place. I kind of just like making fun of their team and their really good mediocre GM and their philandering (I don't mean in his marriage, I'm not slandering him there) president of hockey ops that bailed to go work for the Rags for 2 years, only to come crying back after they dumped his ass.

Pre-covid my gf and I would take the trip out to Columbus every year to catch the Devils game and do a 2-3 day trip. Columbus is a pretty nice city, couple good food spots...and their arena serves f***ing pork belly on a stick, so that's definitely a plus.

I don’t even @Bleedred all over other team’s goalies or anything but I’m pretty sure even a healthy Korpisalo sucks. He’s had maybe one good season in a forever, Elvis has been the better goalie for a while.
