Yeah as much as we rag on KK for being a problem for the roster, Burns has quietly become our biggest. There's no place to put him that doesn't hurt, so we play him where it hurts the least and kneecaps arguably our best player. And it's not like we can bench him with the ironman streak ongoing.

And I can't see Burns being back next year even as #6, because you aren't moving Ghost up to the top 4 and Ghost-Burns won't be any less horrifying next year.

I don't think this Burns is how you mentor Nikishin either. Use the Burns and Orlov money to get a top 4 RD and a top 6 forward.

Imagine if we kept Pesce. We could have him with Slavin on the 1st pairing, and put Burns on the 2nd pairing. Then next season, not extend Burns, and have something like:

Slavin-Pesce
Nikishin-Chatfield
Ghost-Morrow

Sounds good to me until we feel like Morrow can be bumped up to a higher pairing. Then we could possibly use the freed up money from Orlov and Burns on getting a skilled top 6 forward.
