GDT: Blue Jacket vs Capital 6pm (Clinch? + R1 adversary?)

While true, Sens did clinch their playoff spot on a night they lost 5-2. They needed Habs to beat Detroit to clinch. It's the reality of the position we're in. It's normal for wild card teams to need out of town help.
They didn't "need" it. They beat us the other night which would've done it either way.

Habs still don't "need" Columbus to lose, but it's not looking good the way they've been playing (and yes, even in the wins they've been bad).

Habs have got 13 out of a possible 16 points in their last 8 games. That is very good.

They have 2 games left and have put themselves in a position where they just need to win 1 to qualify.

I don't understand what some of you fans expect.

I demand to be able to complain about something all the time.

the fire MSL talk is a little crazy. wouldn't be in this position without him. this team was almost sellers at the TDL and don't really have much business in the playoffs. massive holes on the roster, that's not on MSL
1. The team is where it regardless of MSL
2. People have a hate for MSL because of what most of the hockey world is seeing and saying, WTF are Savard and Pezzetta doing in the lineup !

Personally I didn't think he was the best person for the job when they hired him

How many big hits does he have?

It seems the Habs physicality is hardly noticeable, so being like Marchenko this year, who has over 30 goals and almost a ppg would be amazing.
What was Marchenko doing when he was 20? Slaf is way better than him.

I just checked, Marchenko was .5 ppg in the KHL..

He's a good player but you're being obnoxious.

Garbage. He was got them to playoff contender status in 3 years. Whether he is the right man for when they are a contender is hard to say.

MSL has given young players lots of reps, something that didn’t happen with former coaches over the last couple decades. The old coaches played rookies on the 4 the line with limited minutes and sat them after one mistake.
Well certain young players, yeah.

With others it's the same story (Xhekaj and Matheson being held to a wildly different standard, Pezzetta being able to stay in the lineup despite constant dumb offensive zone penalties, Savard playing over Xhekaj even on a back to back).

Because the team has come out flat game after game in this stretch, and has had multiple chances to clinch and hasn't been able to get motivated or ready for any of the games. 8 shots through 48 minutes in a game where you should be playing for your lives is indicative of a coach that can't get players ready for big games.

How is that going to work out when we need to be rising to the occasion in the playoffs? He's been a great coach through the rebuild and developmentally but he's thoroughly lacking tactically and in terms of roster selection (Savard on a back to back, Pezzetta in night after night despite taking constant 3rd period penalties).

I don't see MSL as a coach you can contend with, and I think our window of contention is starting next year.

You don't can a coach when you went from a 76-point season to an 88-point season. That's a 12-point increase with 2 games remaining.

Sure, their starts haven't been good lately. But the reason they were able to mount a lot of comebacks is because they were able to adjust. And that is also a quality a coach has.
