Not that I want any part of Dubois but the idea of Montreal coughing up a 1st for the privilege is nuts. It's a mistake to try and make this a 3 way trade when it is not. The deal is between LA and Montreal. Gallagher, Anderson for Dubois and whatever sweeteners are needed to compensate for the extra 4 years of Dubois's contract. Then it is up to LA to decide if they want to keep one or both of the players or pay another team to take them. Montreal is not a part of that equation.

Blake isn’t trading Dubois and he sure isn’t trading the King’s first round pick for a third year in a row. This whole trade scenario makes zero sense.

Or he can fail a physical.

Yeah, that's possible too but he has to go down hill physically fast. He still thinks he can play and not sure how much training he is doing these days.

I think this is all noise. Of course the Kings don't like that 1st year but fans/media are spinning it.

And Montreal gets a capdump with a much longer duration than the two guys they are dumping. And they cough up a 1st for the trouble. lol

Yeah, this trade idea is not happening.

Option 1: Kings keep Dubois and try to manage his utilization better

Option 2: Kings buy him out before his next birthdate (1/3 the cost). It would basically add up to the cost the Wild paid for Suter and Parise (combined)

Option 3: Try to make a trade. Habs would probably talk but Kings are going to have to come to grips that we are not bending. What sparks my interest is Dubois with retention down to $7M or $7.5M, Kings add one of their 1st's, and we send back Anderson and Gallagher. No way we are taking on the extra 4 years and not getting anything for it. We are certainly not adding a 1st, that's for sure.

This contract could get worse or he could rebound. Hard to say but it's risky to trade for that term.

Respectfully, you don't know what you're talking about.

It wasn't "sudden." Hossa dealt with the eczema the last four years of his career. Hossa got rashes that were so itchy he scratched his skin raw and slept in blood stained sheets. Hossa stoped attending team dinners and had room service alone in his room because he was either bleeding through his clothing or bathed in stinky ointments and wraps. He nearly missed the 2016 World Cup of Hockey due to a particularly nasty flare up. The league was also not only aware of this, but actually sent Hossa to a doctor with no affiliation to the Blackhawks over concerns with the medication the he was taking in order to continue playing in his final season. The doctor told Hossa that if he continued to take the cocktail of medications he was on that it would begin to affect his body like chemotherapy. He made the only decision he really could and had to walk away from the game.
That sounds absolutely horrible...............geez.
Let's hope the guy is doing better these days, that's when all the money in the world, is of no use, if you do not have your health.
Crazy....

Google the definition of "merit" and see if 8 million in additional cap space would qualify as such

Then apply the same definition to the Sharks adding a pair of 1st rd picks
Is Montreal so desperate for cap space this season that they are willing to take on a bad contract running through 2031? Dvorak's contract ends in 2025, while Anderson and Gallagher have contracts expiring in 2027. LA would need to send multiple 1st-round picks to make this work for Montreal, the Canadiens shouldn't be sending a 1st to the Kings.

The Sharks are a rebuilding team that has been getting rid of high-priced vets, not making trades to get them. Two picks late in the 1st-round wouldn't be enough to get them to take on Anderson and Gallagher.

This whole idea is insane.
Blake isn't giving away a fortune to trade for Dubois just to pay another 1st rounder to give him away.
Blake is stuck with Dubois and his fait is directly connected with how PLD will perform
