Two years left @ a very digestible 4.9 AAV. Flames have a lot of organizational depth on the W and some young forwards that are needing of more opportunity. Very consistent player, only a year removed from career highs in goals(30) and pts(54). Quality physical two way winger and a real good pro that I have a hard time seeing making any teams worse.

Has a 10 team approved trade list so that may be limiting.
What kind of value would we think Conroy would be looking at?
Late 1st? 2nd and 3rd? 3rd and a promising prospect in need of a change of scenery? Always tough to quantify a value on players that bring a lot of positive intangibles.

Also married to an ex Dallas Cowboys cheerleader and a couple of super cute kids, not sure what that's worth but can't be a negative.

I think maybe a 2nd and a 3rd or equivalent prospects, unless the Flames retain for 2 years like with Markstrom (or take a multiyear cap dump) then I think he can get a 1st

Maybe a 3rd and a C level prospect.
Coyle returned a 2nd and Mittelstadt. but Coleman is only worth a 3rd and a nothing prospect?

There is no way the gap is that large between Coyle and Coleman. They produce similarly offensively, the are the same age... Coyle in a C, but Coleman has a lower cap hit. I think the extra year hurts Coleman's value a little in comparison, which is why I think a 2nd and 3rd or 2x 2nd is pretty reasonable since I think Mitts and a 2nd would have late first value as a package.

33 years old only cracked 40 once (last season 54 pts) but a glue guy veteran. I agree this is the kind of player Buffalo should be targeting for a 2nd.

Coyle is twice the player.

What an asinine reply.
Oh perfect. Insults. That proves it.

Ok how about this.

Coyle 485 points vs Coleman 290 points.

Coyle is a centre and plays the position very well. He is also very good at faceoffs. In his prime was a puck possession. Monster. Plays the premier position.

Coleman won two cups on a stacked team.

Coyle is 6’3 and uses his body well.
Coleman is 5’11 and plays hard

I am willing to bet Coleman’s not worth even close to zellers, mittelstadt and a second. Probably worth maybe a 4th round pick at best. If the flames could have traded him for what the bruins got he would have been shipped off In a heartbeat.

Can't imagine Conroy has any intention of trading him...
I think there is a chance. I think we need to move a forward... Huberdeau, Zary and Coronato aren't going anywhere. It seems very unlikely Shargovich is moved before his extension kicks in. We just added Frost and Farabee, so that sees unlikely too. I think Lomberg, Pospisil and Klapka are more valuable to the Flames than other teams and will ideally play on the 4th line except when someone else is out... Backlund is captain and it seems unlikely he's moved unless he tells us he wants to chase a Cup... Kerins is still a prospect and really broke out this year in the AHL.

So that leaves Coleman. He's a candidate because he's older and has as much value to other teams as us.

First, saying a reply is asinine is not an insult... unless your opinion has feelings that got hurt... in that case I sincerely apologize.

No shit Coyle has more points... Coyle has played more than 300 more games than Coleman because he was already playing in the NHL while Coleman was in college... so really what that means is Coyle has a lot more miles on him.

His prime means jack squat too, what matters is now and recent history. Over the last 3 seasons the difference in their offensive production is 5 goals (in favor of Coleman) and 9 points in favor of Coyle.

They play comparable style games and roles, they produce comparable numbers... yet Coyle is "twice the player"

Next time just type that Flames games start after your bedtime and save us both the time and you the embarrassment of looking like a fool.

Fair enough.

So he is worth what coyle is worth because they have similar play styles and a couple seasons of similar production? I’m not buying what you’re selling. Let’s see what Coleman gets at the trade deadline. Maybe I’ll be eating crow.

coyle plays centre very effectively. Wins faceoffs. He is really good defensively in all three zones. Wins faceoffs and carries his lines play. Does Coleman do all that ?

I would not give up a top tier prospect a second and a young nhl centre for Blake Coleman. Coleman is worth a later draft pick as far as I’m concerned.

But im just a fool who makes stupid posts.

IMO Mittelstadt was a cap dump in that deal. Coyle wasn't good this season for the bruins, but he fills the role the Avs want much better and is signed for one less season, and that's what the Avs were paying to get out of.

I think Coleman gets more then a third though.

Coleman definitely gets more than a 3rd and a C level prospect, but it's also good to remember that prices are different in the offseason and at the trade deadline.

It'd be great if the Devils could get him back.

This might be the dumbest post I've read in a while. Should age like milk
