That thing is like a lucky rabbits foot in terms of the draft pick, keep posting it just in case we need it.

I'd like to see the following tonight:
- 48 back in the top 6. He is one of the few Hawks creating these days. Perhaps the 12-19-48 combo may work (if Q won't put 12/88 together)
- keep Saad and Toews separate
- move Duclair off of first line as well. He needs to get his timing back before he plays there
- Perhaps 8-15-88 may work again.
- play Murphy more than 15 minutes
- keep 2 off of PP
- keep 48 on PP

Detroit goes 15 game winning streak after tonight and passes Chicago in the standings. Next up Habs and Oilers.

Soon we are top-5 team!

You see our beloved Blackhawks are merely exhibiting the transitory nature of reality.
Nothing lasts forever! But be enheartened neither shall this smelly product last forever!
Yup fallin for Dahlin or muck for Tkachuk!

I'm not a must win game kinda guy, but if they have any hope of salvaging this season they need two points tonight.

Agreed. I absolutely HATE the idea of purposely tanking. That's for losers and it just creates a negative atmosphere that can be difficult to shake.

I was also surprised to see so many negative comments here in the last 2 games. The team played a helluva lot better than it has for most of this season.... just needs some logical combinations on the ice, better puck luck, and more finish.

I don't think for one minute that the team would purposefully tank nor do I want them to.
It's just the team appears to be heading towards a high draft pick and that is the deal this year than that is something to look forward to.
Tampa missed last year, LA a couple of times ..it's not necessarily a bad thing. We need a blue chip prospect.

I like a lot of your thoughts here. Know you've been a huge Vinnie advocate in the past, starting to see what you were talking about because his game has definitely taken another step. He used to struggle making plays at high speed, but now he finds a way to keep the puck in high traffic areas and make plays. Him and Schmaltz are becoming two of my favorite younger players to watch on the team, and obviously DeBrincat when Q decides it's a good idea to play him with talented players.

Also, throw Glasser back in net to ensure we get the much needed Dahlin points.

I have been a Hawks fan since attending my first game 35 years ago and have supported them throughout but I must say it is getting harder and harder to watch these games. I can handle a team that’s not very good, I struggle to handle a team that is lifeless and doesn’t seem to care much. This team is boring to watch and now rarely matches the energy of the opponent. Every time they get a PP its depressing, its the hardest Hawks team to watch in a long time.

Fahlin' for Dahlin' baby

34 games remaining.

Hawks would need approx.:

23 wins
11 losses

or

18 wins
6 losses
10 OTL

to have a chance at the playoffs with 96-97 points.

I really can't see this team winning 18-23 of their next 34 games.
I genuinely hope they prove me wrong of course.

Smart money would be to sell now and fall for a shot at Dahlin.

I don’t see us catching Arizona or Buffalo but would love to get into that No. 3 spot if possible. This goalie tandem makes it possible.

I liked last nights lineup, I wouldn't change anything about it. The only thing I would change is tell the players to try and pick corners of the net instead of shooting it into the chest of the goalie. I swear they lead the league in chest shots, and posts this year.

Picking corners is what gets them the posts.

Have em pick gigantic open areas where they can see a lot of webbing, maybe?

1.Need 100 points to get in...per Hitchcock on what his team needs ..Because the Central teams (apart from the Hawks) are so good they won't lose much to eastern teams and so the usual 94-97 points probably not going to ve enough for ladt wildcard as both will cone from the Central ..

2.Hawks probable finish is to draft in the range of 7-11 ...Probably 9,10 or 11 unless they keep losing a lot and fall to 7 or. .Doubt we can fall to a higher draft slot than #7 unless a historic tank goes down..But whether we draft 11 or 7 as the likely end pii tsvofvavrangebof probability,we still have that lotto chance in 3 draws for 1 ,2 or the 3rd spot in round 1. .

Yes our chances on probability increase the lower we finish . But still..with luck there are still chances we could move up Bua a lotto won to one of the top 3 spots . Of course we take Dahlin at #1 if we get that lucky..but in truth I hope if wr do move up to 2 or 3 only that we fill our bigger need for a top line forward star ...Tkachuk,Svechnikov or Zadina ..any if them would be great ..but when you think about it...Zadina is tge special talent with that shot of his..the SNIPER we deserately could use .Gus with a special sniper shot and PP scoring ability because of his shot, are so rare and beating NHL goalies so difficult .that maybe you discount t some of the things he still must improve on...Svechnikov and Tkachuk are more complete players in the 2-way game...Svechnikov the most skilled as to equally good at passing and scoring in various ways..and Tkachuk bringing both scoring ,power and play in the tough crease area ...well any of these 3 forwards would be a coup for us
..True...Dahlin is a Consensus #1 for this draft and projects as a franchise dman..But still ..when you have a #1 line that has no scoring stars on it given Toews seems to mess up anyone who plays with hom now (eg.Sadd"s fall from scoring ability) ..well we shall need to start re-buildingvan actual scoring threat from line #1 ...sp we need am infusion of Star level talent at forward there .if on the other hand,we do not win a lotto to go 1,2 or 3..
Then if at #7 we should take Oliver Whalstrom ..the final forward who projects as star level first line talent ...If we draft after 7 and Whalstrom off the board,we should then go for Centres....Lundestrom or Hayton or Kotkaniemi or McBain ...depending on how our Scouting dept. ranks them at final rankings ..

I will ve looking close at Barrett Hayton tonoght in the NHL-CHL Top Prospects Game and will report nmy impressions in a future post ..Central Scouting has him at #6 NA skater at mid-term...I still like their #3 Euroskater Isac Lundestrom as my first choice at Centre ..but we are still at mid-term ranking and I xoukd vane my mind .But we shall see what hapoens the remainder of the season before it gets to draft time.

The great thing is, they don't need to purposely tank. Just keep Q around the rest of the season, and let it take care of itself. This team is defeated. The commentary from the broadcasters last night says it all. The bench had no life, in a close game, at home, in what is basically a must win situation. The kids will continue to bring it, because they're playing for roster spots and contracts. The "core" will continue to suck, because they're done with this coaching staff. Win win.

They will probably need 100 points to make the playoffs in the Western Conference this season. That ain't happening.
