We'll just have to agree to disagree
Theres nothing to agree on?

They have 20 million in space this offseason. Factoring trades they could have upwards of 30 million in space with no one to re-sign to any big contracts.

Then 50 million in space next offseason. You are completely off base with your assumptions and your lack of knowledge is apparent even a monkey could see it

Cool. So, we're in agreement then.

Feel free to provide an example of what that fair value would look like
As a hawks fan, I wouldn't be interested in the "young LHD prospect with size" which sounds like code for "guy who has played in the AHL for two seasons and probably is not good", which leaves paying a whole heck of a lot for the 2nd overall in a weak draft. DeBrincat is way more valuable than that. This isn't a firesale, everyone must go situation with him. He is on a good value for next year and still under team control as an RFA. For a 24 year old certified top line winger coming off back-to-back Top 6 Goal finishes, the price should be understandably quite high.

No? Your "amazing" proposal was incentivizing clearing space when that isnt what the hawks need at all. You wont get DCat-and Jones for #2 a disappointing prospect and two cap dumps that wont even return a lot when they are flipped.

Wouldnt take that for DCat alone let alone with Jones added in as a way to "clear cap"

1. Alex DeBrincat
Left Wing, Chicago Blackhawks
Age: 24
Stats: 82 GP, 41 G, 37 A, 78 Pts
Contract: 1 more season, $6.4 million AAV
Scoop: The question seems to be ‘when’ and not ‘if’ the Hawks will move the two-time 40-goal scorer. Is it this summer, or before next season’s trade deadline? If it seems odd that the rebuilding Blackhawks would want to move a sniper just hitting his prime with more goals than Nathan MacKinnon and Brad Marchand over the last four seasons, consider these three points: 1) DeBrincat is Chicago’s best trade chip to begin stockpiling future assets; 2) By the time Chicago gets to where they want, he will be middle-aged by NHL standards; 3) With a $9 million qualifying offer due at the end of next season, they’d need to pay big to keep him on what should be a struggling squad.
