Bedard has completely fizzled out. Maybe it's just not that easy to be a franchise changing 1st overall like Matthews. Maybe some players just aren't as good as the hype. Interesting to see where their franchise goes in the near future.

Bedard is ballsacks pass it around.

It doesn’t help when you’re 5’9, a lot of people forecasted him having trouble translating his dominance to the NHL early on. I thought he would be doing better than he has but I never for one second believed he was going to be on a Crosby or McDavid level.

I think he's going to be fine as an elite scoring winger, but he's not that generational guy. I feel for him, because the Canadian media blew him up to something that was near impossible to attain, and that Blackhawks forward group is cheeks.

Even though he was the one taking charge, Matthews had a big luxury being a rookie at the same time as Marner, Nylander and Hyman.

Yeah I mean Matthews was just comfortably the better player at the same age regardless of their linemates, and truthfully it’s not even close. I suspect Bedard is due for a really big breakout in the next few seasons though and I still believe he becomes an elite offensive superstar.

The way I see it, not breaking out like 34 and 16 will save the Hawks some money in the long run unless their Kyle is as weak at negotiating as our Kyle was.

Taking cap hit into consideration, age difference, I’d trade anybody on the team for Bédard

Sign the league's cap system is f***ed beyond belief; teams praying that their high drafted superstars start slow and take off after their first contracts expire...
What the f*** other North American league operates like this?

I know eh’, lol next year I’m subscribing to prime and screw tsn sn.
Hey, Prime is great. Problem is when you run out of stuff you want to buy so you cancel it because Christmas shopping 100% done, wanna watch a show on there? There's other ways.

But, paying Rogers $300 a month for their services inluding SN/TSN and you can't watch the f***in' Leafs game.............

I'm thinking Rogers customers should have Amazon Prime as a throw in for remaining a subscriber. That would be a great business idea.

Instead, f*** you consumer, you can't watch this game through us.

The Leafs that Matthews joined had JvR, Kadri, Bozak, Marner, Nylander, peak Gardiner, Rielly, 36 point Zaitsev, Connor Brown, Komarov, Hyman...

Matthews was the third elite offensive forward high pick

Bedard was the first high pick, and he really has nobody to play with. Ryan Donato has the second most points on that team... they are simply terrible. Give it another three or four years, and more higher picks, and he'll come alive... he needs some guys to play with.

It’s actually similar to celebrini IMO

They have smith, eklund, toffoli, zetterlund, granlund, Walman, Wennberg

Unsurprisingly, celebrini has been very good, and I feel like bedard would do the same or better in that situation. He’d have guys like granlund, smith, eklund passing to him instead of….teravainen, bertuzzi, hall (bleugh), jones

A big part of the Leafs quick turnaround was adding a 40-goal scorer and two 60+ point wingers in the same season (Nylander's first full season at least). The trio also finished 1,3,4 in team scoring.

Those 3 combined for 81 goals in 2016. That's enough added firepower to rocket just about any team from the basement into the playoffs. At least for the Leafs it did.

I wondered why sn was a $15 add on but tsn was 22. Sn sold some of their games to prime.

Woll has been better of late and given zero chance to go on a few game stretch.
Well to be fair Stolarz wasn't given a chance to run despite being unbeatable himself. He had a few games run, only because Woll was injured but when Woll returned they went back to rotation..despite Stolarz playing Vezina level during Woll's absence.

It's just a guess, but is Berube thinking about when both Auston and Mitch said Holmsy was one of the most talented guys on the team, and he's hoping that one day they'll be right?
