I also would’ve rather traded an asset with Gus to keep Bjork, but it also frees up cap down the road for the hopefully good young guys needing extensions. That’s why Jarmo went this route I’m sure. Along with probably no takers for Gus.

But man, f***. I hope Bjork can do well for Seattle and show that he really is one of the most underrated guys in the league.

I suggest trading Werenski to Arizona for the 4th and 5th rounder in the draft. 😎

Would have rather paid a 2nd to get rid of Nyquist but who knows if that was even an option.

Bjorkstrand's contract is so good. He'll be a fan favorite in Seattle. Laine better ball out or else.

Agreed - the picks are negligible in value compared to the value of the players so I'd have paid even more than a 2nd to move Gus if it meant keeping Bjorky.

Really? Instead of Nyquist? Gross
I don't like it, but Nyquist had a better season (in winning) than Bjorkstrand and has only 1 year left on his contract which opens loads of cap space that is crucial coming forward with all the prospects on the org (shiny new toys Sillinger, KJ, Jiricek, Mateychuk, Ceulemans, Marchenko, and lots of others if they break through like Boqvist, Tarasov etc.).

Also there isn't much projected space on top-6 for Bjork as there are Johnny, Laine, Voracek (only 2 seasons), KJ, and many other prospects.

I would love to have 20-21 Bjork with that contract, but 21-22 Bjork was not at required level.
