Seattle challenged Colorado's goal for offside. Review showed Lehkonen was offside so the goal was called off. They review the play the again then realized Seattle shot the puck into their own zone so it was called a goal again.

What do you mean they reviewed it again? Did Col challenge the challenge? (Is that even a thing)

We dont know.

I suspect the league intervened to fix what was about to be an error by the officiating crew. They sounded the horn just as they were about to drop the puck and play on.

NHL is a 3rd rate league due to stuff like this

Maybe Toronto gave them a call?

Sounds like it. Understandable how it could play out that the refs on the ice would review the play for what the coach challenged, then issue their ruling up to Toronto, then Toronto notices that there’s another contextual factor that the refs failed to consider.

No real issue with this as there is a lot going on at ice level and the purpose of Toronto is to catch stuff like this.

While odd they got it right. If the refs/linesman review a play and because of a weird sequence of events they get it wrong I'm happy someone(whether the NHL office or Colorado) clarified to them what actually happened and they're still allowed to alter their review decision once they understand.
