Cites reason for retirement as wanting to be closer to family.

Leaves to play in Russia. Makes sense.

Players change their minds all the time, he could just be itching to play again ... with the season in full swing he wouldn't be gone very long. I would be more shocked if an NHL team actually wanted him.

I just can't see him wanting to play in Russia.

Maybe Buffalo trades Miller (please let it be out West) and takes him back.

why would there be speculation hes coming out or retirement?

unconditional waivers for purposes of terminating contract

-thats what the report says.. to me that says hes terminating his cotract and not getting paid on that anymore..

hes up to something new gig with TSN, NBC, or bigger role with the garden so he'll be paid good money on a multi-yr deal.. maybe MSG in Buff to do saber games..

He had already retired and wasn't getting paid anymore. He didn't need to terminate his contract if all he wanted was a studio/announcer gig. He was already doing some studio work for the Rangers. But if he wants to play somewhere again, then he has to terminate his contract with the Rangers first.

As for the poor play, it was over two games and only one of which was a start. And that was during the most absurd of the AV the Clown routine, so I think it's hard to blame Biron too much for the numbers. If he wanted to retire or felt like he didn't have anything left, I'd assume he'd do that over the offseason instead of preparing the whole way to play another year and then quitting after 35 minutes of game time. Hopefully he gets a chance in Buffalo, he's a good guy and he should have another shot at the NHL. He's earned it. 35 minutes doesn't change that.
