Binnington is a mediocre goalie with limited trade value, and the 4 Nations Faceoff didn't meaningfully change that perception. The Blues aren't going to be able to move his contract (assuming they even want to do so) and the two years remaining at $6M AAV.

The Leafs might let Marner walk. It's possible. Either way, they won't trade him before the playoffs. They'll either re-sign him before July 1st or let him walk and spend those dollars in free agency. Trading him just before the playoffs will only hurt their playoff chances.

Toronto's goaltending isn't particularly heralded but it's been solid enough this year. It's highly debatable that adding Binnington makes them better at the position and he comes with term that isn't so desirable.

Why would the Leafs trade for Binnington when they have 2 goalies outplaying him this year while making less than him?

Something like Marner + 2026 1st RD for Schenn + Parayko makes more sense but I can't see the Leafs wanting to trade him now. I see them caving and over paying.

The team likely won't go for a goalie. Needs are top 4 D and middle 6 C. I also would think St. Louis would want more futures then a Marner.

Sign him first and then trade, otherwise no

1. Marner even without contract is worth way more than Binnington.

2. Saying this as a Leafs fan Marner is just a way better version of Kyrou who plays on the wing. Does it address a need for the Blues? Can we have Marner? No, we have Marner at home.

3. Stolarz and Woll have been good, Woll locks into a friendly deal starting next year.

What would have to be included to make this happen? Either team possibly interested? Gives both teams, a key piece.

Binner has this season @6M, and two more at the same price then UFA. Marner had 10.9M this season then UFA.

STL would have to add players Scheen (6.5M till 28/29), or Suter, prospects, or picks? Or Toronto would? One for One?
Please please tell me this is a gag thread. Please for the love of god.

The irony in this thread is so massive. Leafs fans have been hyping Marner's performance from this tournament in other threads. But when it comes to Binnington, suddenly this tournament doesn't mean so much. So rich.

You're premise is flawed.
There is no scenario where the focal point of a trade between these 2 is Binnington for Marner.
He(Binnington) could be a throw in, but he doesn't have enough value to actually be the main return

A true playoff warrior netminder on the Leafs would be fking terrifying. That team needs someone like him to inspire them. Blues would probably take a picks and prospects package for him and I would burn my Bluenote if they did that.

Trading a top 5 scorer in the league before the playoffs

I’d hope the return wouldn’t be a headcase
He has matured greatly over the past couple of years, but thank you, Breakers
