This bum won't take less money like Brady did even tho his future wife is a famous actress :sarcasm:
I don’t know man…the league MVP taking the same AAV as Trevor Lawrence seems like a deal to me.

He got his guarantees…but in three years he’ll be firmly out of the top 5 again. Got in before Mahomes redoes his. Then Lamar will. Then Burrow. And it will be time for Washington to pay Daniels.

He could have broken the market. As the next star up after getting leaped by Dak, Tua, Lawrence and others…

He appears to have just notched himself back where he should be by a hair and moved on

Teams are restructuring contracts for QBs all the time. Mahomes is a $66 mill cap charge to KC for 2025. They are going to redo his deal to drop that down, while still giving him his money.

From what I can gather…Allen’s deal takes up less than 20% of the cap the year it was signed. By comparison…Burrow was over 24% which I believe is the highest. Allen’s previous deal was actually a higher percent of that cap than this one.

He resets the market on guaranteed dollars…but ranks second behind Dak in AAV. Tied with Love, Lawrence and Burrow.

He could have asked for the Burrow percentage and gotten a record AAV and they’d have had no choice but to pay him. You’ll say…well…he had 4 more years left on his contract so they could have said no. But the cap hits the next two years were huge so a new deal was always happening this offseason. And it’s not like they’d want to tell him to F off anyway. He’s the entire team

Teams have to restructure QB deals because they hand out big SB. That gets spread out over the term of the deal or 5 years. They can then afford to pay a low base salary in year 1 and 2 if the SB now get into the $80 mill range. But come year 3, or 4 when the guaranteed money is done they have to do a restructure again.

My favorite Josh Allen stat is that he has the most total touchdowns of any player in their first 8 seasons in NFL history.

He hasn’t played his 8th season yet.
